Does anyone here share the same feeling with Shoppi Tivoli in Spreitenbach?

So I think that place on a Friday or Saturday is literally hell on earth. Probably the worst place to be in Switzerland. It’s insanely full of people and most of them just look like superficial NPCs. Full of fake people in my opinion.

I can’t understand how some families even spend their free time in this place. It feels like peak consumerism and everything that is wrong with society. Sorry I had to get that off my chest.

How can I get my money back.

I went onto facebook market to see if anyone had any old nintendo switch consoles they were selling and stumbled upon a deal for 125.- I messaged the person and we came to an agreement that Id pay 125.- plus the shipping cost of 10.- Now my situation is now I had already paid and expected the parcel but when I asked about it she told me that shipping all of a sudden costs an extra 60.- and Id need to pay for that too if I wanted it. I told her that there would be no way I would be paying for that as that 60.- extra came out of nowhere and just doesnt make any sense why it would cost 60.- I then asked her for a refund and she has only responded that I can pay 50.- instead of the full 60.- and I told her that I just wanted my money back since she has been really hard to deal with with hours of no response and ever since she hasnt responded at all. Is there any way I can get my money back at all? I have all screenshots of the conversation we had.

What type of BM2 "can" you do with a KV-EFZ

I'm a bit confused about what type of BM2 you have/can do with a KV-B-Profile diploma.

So on the offical website it says you can do the general BM2 if you just have a EFZ in general, but then it indirectly implies that you "only" can do BM2 Typ Wirtschaft with KV-B diploma. So does that mean I have to apply for the BM2 Typ Wirtschaft? And can I still do it with KV-B Profile?

What kind of animal hair is this?

Hello everyone! Today, while on a hike with my husband, we came across this bit of hair on the ground. I suspected this might be a Wolf or some kind of canine but I'm not sure since I see some curly hairs there. This was in the Jura-Vaudois region btw. I appreciate your responses, I just want to know how careful I have to be in this area :)

Was versteht Ihr?

The level of trust in Swiss libraries is crazy

People take breaks and leave their whole stuff, with bags, laptops, ipads, etc. on their study desk, with hundreds of other people in the library, and there are hardly ever thefts, even if people take breaks for more than an hour.

They only other countries that I can think of where it's similar are Japan, Korea, Singapore and maybe Scandinavian countries

Winter Hiking Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for hikes that could be done over the course of the next week while the weather remains fantastic?

I've been using SchweizMobil/SwitzerlandMobility to find hikes since you can filter for prepared winter hikes on it - but the selection is somewhat limited and most hikes are quite short.

Just yesterday some friends and I hiked from Seebodenalp to Rigi Kulm - a route that is not technically a prepared winter hike (and therefore not on SchweizMobil in winter mode), but weather conditions and its popularity meant that we had no problems at all doing it without snow shoes. And it was amazing, with splendid views over the Nebelmeer in the surrounding valleys all along.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where we could go in the next days, for hikes that are 4-6 hours long and don't require snow shoes? Ideally somewhat close to Zurich, but we also don't mind travelling a bit.

Complementary Health Insurance

Hi everyone, F30. I searched the sub and noticed that many of you advise against complementary health insurance for young individuals.

Are there any complementary plans that you think are genuinely useful?

Some notes about me: 1) I have no health problems; 2) I don’t plan on incurring dental expenses next year (I’ve already had enough this year); 3) I don’t want to have children for at least 4–5 years; 4) I’d like to join a gym (I’ve seen that in some cases, part of the cost might be covered by insurance—is that correct?); 5) I’ll occasionally have medical appointments, most likely in Italy, where I already have doctors I know—> How does it work in such cases?

Given all this, I’m open to any advice as I’m really inexperienced.

Thank you so much!

Just wanted to share my happiness after receiving this amazing Christmas gift as I approach naturalization time!

I speak 2 national languages perfectly already and I am waking up every morning 1 hour earlier to learn German as well. I love following rules and respecting the next man.

That's probably my opening pitch in front of the naturalization committee.

Long live 🇨🇭 and hope you're all having a great holiday season!

Urgent Help Needed: WAB Course for Motorcycle Riders in Switzerland

Hi fellow Redditors in Switzerland,

I urgently need your help!

Today, I discovered that my motorcycle driver’s license is no longer valid because I didn’t complete the mandatory WAB course. While this would normally be manageable, I only have a motorcycle license, which means I can only take the course with a motorcycle.

Here’s the issue: all the providers I’ve found online are only offering the next courses in April 2025, and I urgently need my motorcycle for commuting to work.

I was informed that some providers might be able to organize a course earlier if I can form a group of at least four people.

If you’re in the same situation or know someone who is, please get in touch! Any tips, advice, or shared experiences would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your help!

When to expect the 2023 tax bill?

Hi everybody, I was just wondering if anyone knows how long it normally takes for the final income tax bill (Schlussrechnung) to come? I submitted the tax return for 2023 in August 2024.

Last year I also submitted my tax return in August and the bill came in late November.

It’s now late December and the bill still hasn’t come. It’s so random. I’m in Kanton Luzern if that makes a difference.

Anyone have any info on this topic?

Hi

Unfortunately I am in a situation were i need to check into a Klinik due to alcoholism and depression.

I’m enquiring if anyone here has been through a similar experience and what was the cost of it.

Are health insurance companies easy to deal with regarding these problems or what is the general consensus.

What qualifies as an "emergency" for Swiss citizens with dual nationality when applying for social assistance?

Hi everyone, Im a Swiss citizen with dual nationality and currently living in a different country. I reached out to the Swiss consulate for social assistance, and they mentioned that in urgent cases, Swiss nationality takes precedence when applying for help. However, Im unclear on what qualifies as an "emergency" under this guideline and they refuse to specify.

Could anyone with experience or knowledge of Swiss social assistance rules share their insights on what kinds of situations might be considered urgent enough for assistance?

Thanks in advance

Building the next-gen online auction / marketplace

Every time I move, I am faced with the same problem - what do I do with the 5, 10, 15 items I don't want to take with?

Putting in the effort to post and manage every single item on one of the big online marketplaces is simply too much in the midst of moving (with family - bonus points) and so it begins... I either keep those things in a storage / cellar, with the intention to deal with it later (haha :-)), or simply discard it.

Switzerland is my 3rd country I call home (planning on staying btw :-)) and the last time we moved I thought - wouldn't it be great, if there was a solution to effortlessly post and manage more items at the same time, but for busy people?

That's how I came to the idea of building a sort of virtual garage sale app, which allows you to take a video of more items, and with the help of ML, recognizes each item, builds descriptions, potentially also 3D models, proposes prices and more?

The app would also offer the classic online marketplace and auctions functionality, with some nice additions to allow for niche communities (like cardmarket) to build their collections and trade and much, much more.

I believe the current market conditions in Switzerland are ripe for disruption and I thought I would share my idea with you guys.

I value every opinion, so feel free to express yourself!

Is there a specific Christmas dish for Switzerland?

Hi. In the UK for example, Christmas dinner is traditionally Turkey. In Germany I heard it is ham(is it?).

Does a similar thing exist in Switzerland as well, i.e. when the family prepares a specific dish for the Christmas night?

Or maybe each Canton is different, or each language region?

Many thanks

Missed a registered letter any way to find out what was about

I was on vacation for about a month. While I was away, I received a registered letter, but the deadline to pick it up at the post office has already passed. Is there any way to find out what it was about or who the sender was? Will they try sending it again?

Home office chair for a petite person

Hi all. I am 155 cm, normal weight, and am looking for a chair for my home office. Most online reviews mention chairs that are not sold here in Switzerland. Can you recommend some options from your experience. Price range upto 400/500 chf max really. Less is better. :-) Many thanks.
