Anywhere to privately shower on campus?
I’m trans (FTM) and I’d like to be able to work out at Dixon, shower, and then go to my classes without having to return home (I live off-campus). I’m not exactly comfortable showering in the men’s OR the women’s locker rooms though as I’m pretty sure the showers are all open. I’ve heard there’s a gender neutral shower at Dixon but just the one. Is there anywhere on campus I can shower somewhat privately?

The showers that lead out to the pool in the bottom of the woman's building are usually really dead. You can figure out the schedule of the pool and easily shower there without much interruption ever!!!

It's far from Dixon, but there is a private bathroom on the nearly-uninhabited 6th floor of Weniger that has a shower. Enjoy it before they demolish the building!

I think there’s a gender neutral shower in the basement of Langton if I remember correctly.

Was actually just in there today, and although there is a gender neutral locker room, the showers unfortunately seem to be out of order besides a lowered open faucet. I was scoping out the place as I'm also trans and have a fitness class in there. The showers are also all open from what I can tell.
As a fellow FTM, I've used the women's locker room in Dixon pleanty of times and haven't had any issues. One perk (ish) about being trans is you can kinda "pass" in any bathroom as long as you keep your head down and do your own thing, if that helps ease any anxiety. I thiiink there are curtains in the showers at Dixon (though I've never used them so I'm not 100% sure), which might be more private than Langton.
I hope this helps! Also if you're new here or need any new queer friends, feel free to dm me!! 🏳️⚧️ ❤️

Pretty sure there’s showers in the locker rooms of the women’s center, and there’s generally no one there in my experience. Not sure about the men’s but the women’s locker room at Dixon has 3 stalls with curtains.

I'm similar, but the women's ones in the gym (the ones I've been in) have curtained showers, kind of tricky bringing clothes inside to change in the curtains without em getting wet beforehand, but can go fetch em in a towel after the shower or somethin. Understand that still not being viable, not sure if you meant at all shared vs being able to not be seen directly

I use the single user shower at the gym when I take my daughter to the pool. There is never anyone there. The only time I have had to wait to use it was when a life guard was using the bathroom. The shower is just off of the weight room on the way to the pool. I recommend it.

Richardson (not Peavy but connected) has a secret basement you can take the elevator to and it has all-gender showers down there

There is a private lockable shower in Dixon. It's down the little hallway by the waterfountain on the first floor across from the lifeguard office.

There’s a single shower stall at Dixon. Definitely needs to be expanded for those who need a personal shower area.
There was (I believe) trans guy in the showers a couple weeks ago at Dixon. He showered. I showered. We both went upon our day. The world didn’t end and the earth is still spinning.

Do not use the men shower it is inappropriate if a male to female went to shower in the female's bathroom it would be a problem

So you just troll Reddit looking for something to spew your transphobia? Because you’ve never posted on this group before so it appears you have no business at OSU let alone no business policing people’s bodies and choices.

No I actually have no problem with trans people at all just sharing a bathroom that's why I really like New York because they have a wash closets not gender restrooms I have many gay friends I have many friends part of the trans community

I hate to inform you but this attitude is transphobic. If you really “have no problem” with trans people you wouldn’t be worried about what bathroom they use. I say this sincerely. You need to really look at your attitude and think hard about what you actually are worried about and if it’s an actual fear or if it’s just rooted in ignorance or bigotry. If you really are accepting, I think you’ll realize that trans people pose no more danger in a bathroom than anyone else.

Also. Ask your “many” trans friends how they feel about you policing their bathroom choices.

I actually have I have two of them and I'm very open on the way I feel about bathroom policies never once has it led to arguing because we can have an open discussion it's okay if you don't understand that

Either your friends are just not being genuine with you in order to preserve your friendship or your friends are in the minority of trans individuals. Most of us just want to use the bathroom of our gender identity and not get harassed.

What are you even talking about? If a trans person want to use the locker room of their gender identity they should be able to. Obviously he said he wasn't comfortable with that right now but if that changes he has every right to use it.

No they should have there own not sharing its not fair to the men making them feel uncomfortable if a mtf goes in the females there will be a fight it goes both ways

You have no clue what you’re talking about…and neither do we. Nice attempts at formulating almost coherent sentences 👏

If a trans woman wants to use the women's locker room they should also be able to. It's that simple. Trans people should be able to use the locker room of their gender.

Not when that makes others uncomfortable/unsafe. This has led to many bad encounters.
