I've been wanting to open a shop that sells aftermarket accessories for guns As of now I don't have the FFL or NYS dealer license so we won't be offering any gunsmithing services, guns, or ammo. For now, I would just focus on selling the parts and you install them yourself. The shop will carry different brands, styles & color of slides, barrels, triggers, lights, optics etc, etc ..... for you to customize your gun as you like.

I would also like to make Kydex holsters for each setup & Do laser engraving.

My long game is to open a small shop to sell Firearms , Ammo . Transfers , and aftermarket parts.

My question is would this idea be a flop or would people be interested in adding aftermarket parts to their guns?

( FYI , This shop would be 5 mins from Yaphank PD, LongIsland , Ny)

So I'm wondering with recent changes ,and making marijuana legal and having it expunged, do I still have to say YES to the arrests?? also, if an arrest is SEALED do i have to say yes to that as well. I ask this question because i was looking at a youtube video from ORANGECOUNTY NY, and the guy, the senior investigator of the unit as he says he is, was explaining in detail, the application process, at a certain point he gets into disclosing arrests, but he said Any and all UNSEALED Arrests...now this video is about 3-4 years old so not sure if it's still applicable, trying figure out am i wasting time and money and not get approved. NOT a felon, but definatley had my run ins for weed (most of them back in the 90's) a dui in 2009 and 2 fights 2011 and 2013... never been to the big house lol just saw a judge, fined and went about my business.

Anyone know which stores/websites are currently shipping lowers or other arms to NY FFLs? Thought it might be easy to make a list here - I was able to order a lower through Aero Precision BUT I have now come to learn they are weeks if not months behind on their orders.... had I known that I would have tried another company.

They require to fill out Out of state applicant form, but page 2 must be fill out and notarized by office issued my original CCW which is obviously NYPD. I can't even think how to do that. I have the opportunity to take a course this month with friends. I made some dumb teenage decisions with my license, zero points on my license, but numerous suspensions and 2 driving without a license tickets. I currently have my permit (years ago I have a physical injury and I thought I was never going to drive again so I gave up my license, stupid.)

I have nothing else that concerns me, but if I can save the time/money and not even attempt, I’d obviously like to keep that money in my pocket. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Because I take ADHD medication, I need a doctors note stating that I won't be a danger with a firearm.

Unfortunately, most hospital systems don't even allow doctors to comment on anything firearm related. Why would they? And New York State knows this.

Are there any legal challenges to this? How come I can't sue the ever living shit out of them?

From a process perspective, and from a legal standpoint, do they seriously think its preferable that I just go around from doctor to doctor until I find one that's willing to write me one? Like how is that better? How is that helping?

Can I get a permit in a different county? or does my current mailing address need to be in the county? - For context I live in NYC but I am originally from upstate New York where my parents reside - Can I get one there?

I've realized that I don't want to deal with the bureaucratic process of owing state restricted guns in NY. I'm considering buying cheap property in Pennsylvania claiming primary residence there, then switching my ID over. Spend the weekends there. But I want to continue to work and live part-time at my second address in NY. Could I just claim the Pennsylvania address on a firearm purchase form? Is that within legal criteria even though I would continue to be employed in NY?

I’m a PA resident and I live VERY close to the NY border. It’s very common for people here to frequent the stores and stuff in NY since it a lot closer. I also work as armed security and travel around a lot between clients, it’s a huge pain to go home and disarm just to run to the store before/after/during work. I’ve read of the recent law changes, but is it actually possible to get a non resident CCW in my situation? If so, any tips on how to go about doing so before I waste any time and money on the process? Closest county is Cattaraugus but maybe going through any counties that are more gun friendly would help? Thanks!

Edit: for anyone following. I contacted Cattaraugus county and they told me they still require residence, so I reached out to my GOA rep since they are responsible for the litigation causing the recent changes. He responded with:

“Here is the response from our attorney.

At this point, the State of New York has taken the position that there is no residency requirement in the NY Penal Law for carry permits. This is a change in their position that is reflected in NYSP amending their Form PPB-3 (carry permit application) to remove the requirement for a NY driver's license. However, since the NYSP is not the entity that issues permits for regular citizens, it does not force the counties to accept applications because the law still reads to includes a residency requirement. That was the testimony of the sheriffs we deposed in the Higbie case.

We will be filing a Motion for Summary Judgment soon, and if successful, it will allow out of state persons to apply in New York for carry permits. Given the wording of the statute, I believe the sheriff of that person's county is correct that, since he is not a resident, the sheriff cannot accept his application. We should have more information about this issue soon during the course of our litigation and will pass it along to you.”

I'm thinking about getting a WBP jack in 5.56. Since it's been a good while (20 years) that I have bought any rifle, I've heard that a permit/license needs to be taken out to buy a rifle and not just a pistol.

Is the Citadel Levtac-92 Lever Action New York compliant? Just trying to make sure before I go ahead and buy it, but the barrel length is over 16 inches and it’s capacity is under 10 rounds so it should be fine?
