She was actually a DEI hire though. Biden promised to hire a black female VP. If Kamala Harris was white, Biden would've picked someone else.
And the main reason she was picked to run for office after Biden dropped out was so they could continue using the campaign money Biden raised.
And if Joe Biden were black, Obama wouldn't have picked him to appeal to white moderates. It turns out that most politicians get elected based on the demographics they appeal to.
And also only Democrats do this sort of thing. Republicans just select the best candidates. Trump didn't select Vance because of his race, and in 2028, when Vance or Ramaswamy wins the primary, it will be because of their policies and intellect and not because of their race.
Uh... bruh, do you not remember Sarah Palin? Hell, even Pence was chosen to appeal to evangelical Christians who were initially put off by Trump. Neither of them were the "best candidate." They were chosen to shore up a demographic that the lead candidate wasn't reaching - literally diversity hires. Even back in the old days when everybody was a 50-something-year-old white dude, vice presidential candidates were usually chosen to appeal to a different demographic or a different part of the country than the presidential candidate. For instance, Nixon chose Agnew (despite his mediocre experience of being a county executive and governor for two years) because it was thought that he would appeal to southerners.
Trump has fully solidified Republican support so he doesn't have to bother with any of that. Instead, Peter Thiel chose someone he thought had enough star power to be a potential Trump successor. If Vance hadn't written a book/movie, he never would have been on the ticket.
