non-citizens weren't the ones voting. the ones voting are naturalized and believe because they have done it the "right way", that they're fine with the ones who haven't being deported. most of the people who voted for it are probably fine with this.

it'll be interesting to see what happens if Miller follows through on his denaturalization promise tho

I imagine there are plenty families, friend groups, or communities where some people are citizens and some aren’t. So I still think some will be surprised when it happens to their closed ones.

I’ve heard many say the govt is only going after criminals. Which part of the term “ILLEGAL immigrant” did they not understand?

What they also don’t understand is that all the “vermin“ and “poisoning our blood” rhetoric is criminalizing being an immigrant. They’re not saying they’re going to deport people who are here illegally. They’re saying being an immigrant is illegal and they’re going to deport them all.

It’s EXACTLY the same rhetoric that was used in Nazi Germany, and it drives me insane when both conservatives AND particularly gullible leftists act like us comparing these people to the Nazis is just being mean ol’ meanies who don’t want to consider an alternate viewpoint. No, this is “We are ramping up for a genocide” language. They just don’t fucking get it.

100%. You’re both right.

They thought that the "illegal" literally meant committing street crimes in addition to immigration visa violations.

They took the two words literally and independently and not as a single phrase with a specific connotation.

Oopsie. I know that’s what they were expecting. They had their feelings and deeply held beliefs that Trump et al wouldn’t come after the “good ones.” Hahaha
