Since our eyes can't see the same colours as the camera, you won't see the colourful objects in the milkyway - but you will be able to see a lot more stars than if you look at the night sky in more light polluted areas! :)
The colors are more or less true, actually, it's just that everything in the image is so dim you'd need eyes the size of a football field to gather enough light to make them out.
Even fairly large lenses and telescopes won't get you this. Most astrophotography images are the result of multiple hours of acquisition time.

Please don't downvote me for asking this: did you use any filters? Or is this a raw image?
I want to see these things one day. Just want to manage my expectations.
