Looking to get a gun for home defense
I’ve tried researching and i’m not entirely sure what to look for. I’m smaller ( 5’4 ) and needing a good handgun for home defense as i dont live in the best area. I read that a glock 43x would be good but i’m not sure if i need a full or compact gun since i’d want to conceal carry as well?

What sites or shops do you use?
Just looking to see if there are any buy/sell/trade sites or places that you all might know of. Used to use arms list till they switched to a pay to use system, and haven’t been in the loop since. Any help would be appreciated.

Update: new hunter questions
Thanks to everyone who answered my questions on this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/INGuns/comments/1h1agwm/new_hunter_questions/
Getting my Indiana license was easy, they don't actually verify the hunter safety course at all afaict so I just put in my Maryland course ID and was good to go.
Friday I went down to Owen Putnam State Forest. It was pretty cool, had a great breakfast at Lou's Diner in Cloverdale and then was in the woods totally alone for a few hours. Didn't see a single sign of another human the whole time. It was significantly more rugged than I anticipated, which was refreshing tbh.
Saw a bunch of squirrels in the morning but didn't get close enough for any good shots. Took one ambitious one and missed. Around 10:30am they kinda dried up and I didn't really see any at all after that.
I went looking for an access road that the park map and google maps said was there, but didn't find hide nor hair of it. There was a spot where if you told me an access road had existed 20 years ago I might believe you, but overall it was just hiking up and down hills/ravines and through brush the whole time.
Great fun, and I'm excited to do it again soon!
PS yes I wore blaze orange vest and hat. I tried to buy a blaze orange beanie but they were sold out everywhere. Next time!

Does the greenwood park mall still have no gun signs?
Just curious if they still have the signs after what happened. If they do still have them up, do they have lots of armed security inside?
Thanks.

In any stores?
This is a shot in the dark but anyone know where I can find the above firearm? It’s an Sig Sauer SG-553p. Rather not go through gunbroker.

Best website to order pistol from
I'm looking to order a Canik mete sft pro. It seems very difficult to find in an actual store. I'm in Northwest Indiana. Any recommendations for the best website to order from that is also affordable?

New hunter questions
Hey y'all, I wanna take my .22 and walk around in the woods and see if I can shoot any squirrels (I hear they taste good, and also I'd like to make a hat). I didn't grow up in a hunting family, and the couple of times I've hunted have been with friends who took care of all the logistics and just told me what license to buy and where to go (and also were not in Indiana). I've read the regulations here and still have a few questions:
For squirrels, I just need a basic hunting license? I did hunter safety in Maryland so I think I can use that certificate to apply here.
For finding land, I found this website: https://www.in.gov/dnr/fish-and-wildlife/hunting-and-trapping/where-to-hunt/ Is that the *only* public land I can hunt on? No state parks (or anything closer to Indy)?
Since it's deer season I need to wear something orange, but just one article, right? So a hat is good enough?
Speaking of deer, any tips for staying out of deer hunter's way?
Thanks in advance for answering my dumb questions. Figuring out how to fish was a lot easier!

New to the state
Hey all just moved here from SC with my family to the Warsaw area. With knowing no one in the area and thanksgiving around the corner, was wondering if there’s any public/private land I could take my oldest shoot? We would be very respectful and leave the property as we found it. Looking specifically to go shoot on thanksgiving day. Thanks in advance

Place to store my gun outside of home?
Does anyone know of a place in Indiana (Indianapolis specificily) that let's you pay to store your gun that's not a storage unit setup? I know it's a long shot but my wife has a history with guns (father etc) and doesn't want one in the house right now so I'm looking for an off-site storage.

New models and timing?
I'm looking at getting the 365 legion at my first gun (been shooting it a ton as a rental at my local range) but I know it's been out for a while and I'm wondering what's the release schedule like for new models? I'd hate to buy it now just to have a new one come out in a couple of months,. Anything new on the horizon, and what's a good source for early info?

Private property in Marion County
Hey all-
Wondering if anyone has the current/up to date regulations on creating an outdoor shooting range in Marion County on private property? I believe I read that it requires approval from the chief of IMPD, but was wondering if anyone had any further info?

Help an Indiana range
reddit.comThe neighbors are trying to put this range out of business. They have been active since 1925. I am in no way affiliated with this range but I am a gun owning Hoosier.

Barrel threading in Indy
Looking for someone who can thread an old rossi .22lr single shot barrel in/around Indy (southeast side preferably). If they can drill and tap for an optic mount that would be great too. New in town so I'm not sure who the good shops are. Thanks in advance.

Anything I need to know regarding privately selling my handgun?
The only thing I know is that I can only sell to an Indiana resident, so I need to ask for a valid IN driver's license.
