Construction Recycling
I'm doing a big new year's clean and have alot of old glass and ceramic coffee mugs I want to throw away. I'm not crafty and don't want to upcycle them into flower pots :-) -- I want them out of the house, but feel bad about putting them in the garbage. Does anyone know of any companies that handle construction and demolition debris that accept ceramics/glass for crushing and reuse for things like roadbed material or landscaping?

The glass can go to Phoenix Glass Recycling. They'll take it for "$5 per bag" at their next Shop and Drop on January 10. January 17.

I know they take I don't know what you'd call it--regular glass?--but they have shelves in their lobby filled with the kind of glass I have (drinking glasses, vases, etc) that can't be recycled. They're for sale. They really do amazing work.

Where do they have the shop and drop?

They don't like to advertise their address since they share a parking lot with other businesses and they're leery about people coming by after hours and dumping their glass in the parking lot. Not to mention there's a $5/cart charge, it's not free.
That said, when you click "Schedule a Drop Off" on their website the address is displayed.

I saw that and noticed that Jan 10 is not available for drop off so I was not sure if the shop and drop is at another place

So how do we help Phoenix take glass recycling to the next level like they are doing in NOLA? Is this feasible?

Love this. Email the two women who run Phoenix--they're so responsive and seem so committed to recycling as an issue, not just a business.

How much are we talking? Like 50 mugs? I can always use fill but I can’t imagine you have enough to make it worth it.

Probably not--maybe 20-25 pieces of ceramic and glass. I thought someone might collect it regularly as a side gig to crush and use. They'd get SO much stuff.

I just donate that kind of thing to a thrift shop myself or you could offer it up in a buy nothing group, that’s where people that do crafty stuff tend to get them it seems.
