Does FFVII Rebirth get better?

It seems like the FFVII story is somewhat whiny and boring --- does the story or game get any better? Also are the mini games mandatory? Is the whole game just nonstop talking to random people

You go to beach and you get to choose tifa a nice swimwear… so keep playing

If this is true, I will keep playing. If not, I am going to hang it up and move on to a game with less shenanigans.
