And so, the journey begins… Final Fantasy General

Post image

I was never into RPGs but my brother convinced me to try FFX in high school and since then they’ve become my favorite genre to play. I’ve on played FFX & FFXV in the Final Fantasy series but all of that is about to change! I’m super excited to play through all of these/replay FFX.

Thanks to everybody for recommending FFIX. It’s on the list to get, for sure! I imagine I’ll get it prior to making it through the first 8 since I’ll be playing pretty slowly (father of 2, both less than 5 years old so free time is quite limited).

Best of luck on the epic journey! I started a similar one (with kids around the same ages) about 3 years ago. Been a lot of fun so far but the kids definitely change the pace of play.

Just beat X last month, bringing my list to all of I through X, tactics, XII, XIII, and next starting VII remake + rebirth. Many of them were replays for me so it wasn’t all new content but I really enjoyed the new (for me) ones too.

I keep hearing IX is getting a remaster, hopefully it’s out by the time you get to it because the game itself is amazing, but the combat is so slow compared to other titles.

I just repeat 9 for the first time in like 20 years and I didn’t remember just how painful it was. I was on turbo mode like 80% of the time and that didn’t help loading screens. I swear some fights take like 10 - 15 seconds just to load even on modern hardware.

Great game but I’m surprised they hadn’t done anything to improve that in the re-releases.

Play on PC with mods and it's probably night and day (I've yet to do it, but heard great things from mods like memoria and moguri).
