Looking for breakfast sandwich hidden gems Food

Are there any local spots to grab a cheap, delicious breakfast sandwich? A local corner store, a 24hr rest stop, a coffee shop, maybe even a ma and pop gas station?

  • Looking for something made in house, not a microwaved chain gas station sandwich.*

I used to live by Barry's. Their breakfast sandwiches are so good, so filling, and affordable.

Nothing hidden about the place with the line that wraps around the building.

I’ve lived in Eugene for 16 years now - only known about Barry’s for the last 5-6. Glad I know now, atleast.

Dang they had two locations for a very long time. I'm surprised to hear this.

It's something you'd "know about" if you live in South Eugene, or if you read online "Best of" lists, but locations don't get more hidden in plain sight than the businesses along 28th and Oak St. where Barry's is located. Along with Long's Meat, these businesses are tucked away in a residential neighborhood.

When I think of Barry's, I still think of his spot that he leased from his buddy Sy Zeer next to Sy's Pizza on campus, but that was back in the 90's and the early 2000's.

Amazingly good, and I’m glad it’s on the other side of town from where I live and I have to make a special pilgrimage to get my Kevin sandwich, or I’d be in trouble.

Inside of Whirled Pies is a coffee shop called Theo's, and they have a great breakfast sandwich with pesto on a croissant <3

Metropol Bakery makes amazing sandwiches.

Doug’s place on Lcc campus most mornings.

That little park avenue market convenience store (Michigan style Party Store) is my favorite breakfast stop on the go. Get the organic Colombian coffee (bring your own cup!) and get a breakfast burrito or a Sammy for u and your work friend

Not cheap, but the ciabatta bacon sandwich at Creswell Bakery is insane.

Hey Ya’ll was a really good breakfast sandwich. Really good homemade biscuits and quite a large sandwich for $7

Capella in South Eugene has yummy breakfast bagels from 8 to about 10; but come to think of it Lox, Stock, and Bagels' are even better. Metropol's are also great but spendy. Market of Choice's are better than gas station quality but are outclassed by the others.

Happy Cow on Hilyard has a breakfast sandwich that reminds me of my dad's and I get that whenever I'm feeling nostalgic. It's perfection.

Too small, too little for wayyy too much $

u/Shwifty_Plumbus 11d ago

I guess. I remember when it was not tucked away and also on campus. But every Google search for the last ten years I've had for a breakfast sandwich or deli pops them up.

Dang. This makes me miss the Courthouse basement cafe. Boo made the best breakfast Sammies.

Cheese Bliss food truck in the Heritage Distilling parking lot on Madison has amazing good. They unfortunately don't have breakfast hours, but their B.E.C. (bacon, egg, and cheese) is a phenomenal brunch item. For $7 it's also quite filling. Tbh all of their food slaps and I'm more than happy to pay what they ask for it.

Their biscuits and gravy are so good, and I hate biscuits and gravy 🤣

u/OregonMike 11d ago

I don't like their biscuits. My menu hack is to order the sausage egg & cheese muffin with a small side of gravy. I cut the sandwich up and toss it in the gravy. Tasty! $4.74 if I recall.
