It's standard practice for each performer to have at least one safety per peformer with a duvetyne blanket prepared for extinguishing props, as well as a fire extinguisher present. The fuel is stored in metal containers with lids that seal.
These people are well prepared, well practiced, and know what they're doing. Stop flaming them as irresponsible or the next wildfire plz.

Where's the extinguisher? I don't see one.
This kind of "But not me, I know what I'm doing" logic is exactly the kind of logic that leads to incidents.
It's fire season. They are surrounded by dry grass. That means that it's not a good idea to do fucking Fire Twirling. No matter how good they normally are at safely fire twirling. Anyone who says otherwise is simply wrong, and it's not up for debate.
It's also just straight up illegal. From the "prohibited activities" section of Eugene Park Rules
Fires in all other park and open space areas shall be confined to:
(a) Park camp stoves or fireplaces provided for that purpose.
(b) Portable stoves or grills in developed park/picnic areas. Stoves, grills,
and other appliances or equipment designed to generate heat shall not
be placed on top of picnic tables and must be set at least 25 feet away
from picnic shelters or other park structures.
(c) Prescribed vegetation management fires, conducted by City staff or
other authorized personnel.
They have fires, and those fires are not confined in portable stoves/grills/park grill stations. And are not prescribed vegetation management fires.

Lulz. This guy gets it. Epic handle/post.
These are NOT professionals. Take one look at their skill level and you can determine competence.
Every person who is barbecuing thinks they’re a pit master because it tickles our fancy. But we’re not all pit masters. Or state/federal fire marshals.
This is a huge amount of destruction just waiting to happen. Homes, lives, entire communities. I’ve had an acute relationship to fire, also been evac’d too many times. Don’t be fucking stupid.

Afaik there's yet to be a fire started by performers. Could be survivors bias, could be the illusion of danger that makes this art form fun. You'll have to take up park rules with them or the authorities, not my circus.

They carry water . If the county has issues with it I am sure they would know.

The county does have issues with it. It's a violation of park rules.
Are you really trying to imply that just because they weren't caught this time that it's probably alright?

Eugene Park Rules, Prohibited Activites
1.025 FIRES AND FIREWORKS.
(1) Fires are prohibited in Spencer Butte Park and the Ridgeline Park System,
except prescribed vegetation management fires conducted by City staff or
other authorized personnel.
(2) Fires in all other park and open space areas shall be confined to:
(a) Park camp stoves or fireplaces provided for that purpose.
(b) Portable stoves or grills in developed park/picnic areas. Stoves, grills,
and other appliances or equipment designed to generate heat shall not
be placed on top of picnic tables and must be set at least 25 feet away
from picnic shelters or other park structures.
(c) Prescribed vegetation management fires, conducted by City staff or
other authorized personnel.
This is stupid, dangerous, and illegal. I don't even see a fire extinguisher. If you see people doing this, please call the non emergency number and report it.

I’ve spun fire for years and have yet to catch concrete on fire…But maybe the concrete out here is more flammable than concrete else where? Props to them for being responsible fire spinners and doing it on a surface that literally cannot catch on fire. And btw, it can be windy af and fire isn’t gonna spin off their props and land in the grass. Not how fire props work. Fire props don’t produce coals or embers. As long as they are on concrete, it is completely safe.
