Can be busy as hell on the weekends if college kids in town.
I prefer next door at Agate Alley Bistro. Their brunch is amazing.

And they have a bloody mary bar they bring you the alcohol and you put everything you want in it yourself

u/DothrakAndRoll Feb 16 '24
They do! And while I love BM’s I always prefer if they make it for me 😅 they’re a lot better at it

I know someone who just quit because of awful toxic management and apparently they have hellllla rats along with other unsanitary practices. Be warned.

The times I’ve been they’ve been great and I’m super picky about breakfast food. My solid runner ups is Studio One Cafe, they have a wonderful selection of Eggs Benedict. If their parking situation was better I’d be more inclined to go. Acorn community cafe is good too, any of the chains like Shari’s, Denny’s, Elmer’s, or IHOP can’t compete with the local restaurants in terms of quality.

Acorn Community Cafe has the best mushroom gravy and biscuits in the cosmos

ditto this, top it all off with one of the salted chocolate chip cookies and it's basically satiated paradise

I frequent Glenwood, and I've never experienced a significant issue. Sure, there are a few, but with all their plants, it's to be expected.

I like South Hills Cafe!

Do you think it will survive the curse of the location? I don't understand how they make enough money seeing that they close at 2pm. I understand breakfast and brunch restaurants close early, but it just seems like the rent on that building must be really high.

They had signs up saying they were going to be open in the evenings a few nights a week as a taqueria, but their website doesn't mention it at all.

u/washington_jefferson Feb 16 '24
Was that during Covid? At some point they put up a bed sheet with "Now Open" spray-painted on it. And it took a few days to complete that sentence- it just said "Now" for a few days. That's pretty much why I haven't even gone in. I checked their google ratings after opening this post, and they've got a lot of positive comments. It couldn't be in a more convenient location, so I might check it out.

It was a couple of months ago. I'll make a point to walk by it soon and take another look. They had professionally made banners that said Taqueria opening soon for dinner or something like that.

There are no signs of their Taqueria aspirations. It must not have worked out. Their yelp listing still has it in their name, though.

I imagine I’d just go to El Jaguar if I wanted Mexican fare. The El Jaguar spot has been another property that hasn’t really popped since Jamie’s Burgers was banging in the early 90’s. I really miss the Cajun burgers and the crispy (McDonald’s or shoestring style) Cajun fries from Jamie’s.
As I mentioned, I’d like to see a housing tower go here with ground floor businesses like the building that hosts Provisions down the street. I’m sure the units would be super expensive, rented or sold, but any housing is good housing. Any business that moves in and can afford the rent would be a serious player. I look forward to that.

In my opinion It's not really that good. The service is great, but the breakfast food is kind of sloppy. And it's somewhat expensive for what I got. When they first opened, it was really good, but the quality has gone way downhill. Just my opinion, and I haven't been in over a year.

Well, there goes that. My 80 year-old father lives off of Dillard Access Rd., so we sometimes meet at the Provisions cafe in the Amazon area. I wouldn't want him to go to a place that isn't that great. Price isn't an issue, the key thing would be high quality ingredients.

100% agree. I live off of Fox Hollow. Provisions is a much better choice, IMO. I also champion Glenwood on Willamette. Consistently good.

- Park St. Cafe is very cute and downtown

Buddy's Diner on Coburg
Their entry this year in the Grilled Cheese thing for Food for Lane County is delicious, it's a chicken fried steak melted cheese thing.

My wife and I went for breakfast a couple months back… didn’t get a table until close to noon. When we did I said fuck it and ordered their cheesburger - it was the best burger I’ve had in ages

Jazzy Ladies because I have Celiac Disease and don't get sick from it.
Edit to add: Yes I've heard that it may not be the best place to work. Unfortunately as someone with CD it's literally the ONLY place in Eugene that is 100% GF. Hate me all you want but I enjoy being about to go out to eat and not be sick for days and damage my intestinal tract.

Addi’s diner in Springfield is a fun breakfast diner spot! Their food isn’t anything spectacular but it’s good diner breakfast food and you can get a pancake the size of a small child 😂

u/albertron503 Feb 16 '24
Addi’s is our go to spot as well, the food is good and Addi is really sweet with our kids

I've stopped going there after hearing about how employees are treated and seeing them post the sub-minimum wage jobs.

I've gone to Addies Diner many times and we love it! It is in Springfield but... worth a quick drive for me.

The Original Pancake House is so good. I definitely think their omelettes aren't the best, but you should really be getting the pancakes there.

Mandy’s and Terry’s Diner are my two favorites! And I have celiac and have never gotten sick from either

The new Jazzy Ladies location is great. I've taken two out-of-town visitors there in the last three months and both were impressed with what they ordered.

Brail’s is always a good choice.
My underrated pick: Prairie Schooner. Cheap. Solid. Full bar.
