Question Ways to roll hit dice during combat?
Hi, So there is this item bloodwell vial, and I know the dwarven fortitude feat allows rolling hit dice during combat. She isn't dwarf so I'm not worried about that one. But are there any other way one can do so?

Discussion 2025 D&D Resolutions! What are yours?
Was reflecting with my friends and realized that this year, several of my campaigns will be ending:
Waterdeep Dragonheist, likely wrapping up in February.
Beyond Dragon of Icespire Peak, probably in Fall at the pace we are going.
Avernus Rising, by the end of the year.
I've also been thinking about what I want to do next, and my mind keeps coming back to 2 ideas:
I want to do a proper West Marches campaign. Hexcrawl, lots of random tables, emergent story telling. I picked up Dr. Phrolin's Dictionary of Dinosaurs and I'm leaning to everyone being like, safari rangers in Chult watching over the Dinosaurs and needing to prevent poachers.
I also want to do a Mega Dungeon, but I'm thinking of not using D&D 5E for this game, I'm leaning towards Shadowdark.

Question Carry over
When you go from one campaign to the next, say when one ends and you start another, what does your character carry over? I’m assuming level and obviously all your characters traits and background, etc. But what about items, such as weapons. Trinkets found during campaigns and coins?

Advice/Help Needed Is it worth taking 3 levels of divine soul as a tomeblade warlock
Is it worth taking 3 levels of divine soul sorcerer with my 2014 tomeblade? I would like to get spiritual weapon and healing word as I don't have any good bonus actions To get 3 sorcerer points. Empowered and twinned spell. As well as 6 extra spell slots then going hexblade for 17 levels? Or would I be lose top much?

Question Geek Fallacies aside, as a DM, would you have a player at your table who would not welcome you to a table they DM?
You play in person. You welcome a player to play in your game. They player also DMs their own game and specifically excludes you.

Suggestion Need help messing with a buddy
I primarily played 3.5e, so I’m fairly new to 5e. My buddy just watched Goblin Slayer and wants to base a campaign on it. He told the rest of us to be prepared for many character deaths. The other two players are new, and I want to mess with them by building a character that can’t die and won’t let anyone else die either. One player is choosing between a sorcerer or a warlock, and the other is planning to play a blood hunter. What do you all suggest I go with to fill in the party gaps and keep everyone alive?

Question Uses for the Light spell
I'm new to DnD and wanted to know: what are the possible uses for the "Light" spell? Is there a way to use it... "offensively"?

Discussion A question about fiendish heritage...
So I have this character in one campaign I'm running with friends - she's a female cambion, had an archdevil for a father and a mortal human mother. Long story short, she's involved in a relationship with an orthon and is currently pregnant (would detail how that happened but I'm keeping this SFW 😂).
My question is, what would their child be considered to be? They'll have a full-blooded devil father and a half-devil mother - are they three-fourths devil then? Is there a specific name for beings with that sort of heritage? I've done research but can't find anything on it. If I could get help from anyone who knows some answers, that'd be awesome 🙏

Question Font of Moonlight question
I'm a level 11 valor bard 8/ GOO warlock 3. I have True Srike as a Warlock cantrip, with Agonising Blast assigned to it. I also have Fount of Moonlight from Bard. If FoM is active, it states 'your melee attacks deal an extra 2d6 radiant damage on a hit'. As True Strike is a melee attack, does Agonising Blast apply to the extra 2d6?

Question Is there someplace I can post an adventure for feedback?
Greetings, adventurers!
I'm kind of in the middle of an adventure with some friends and the DM got really busy, so I decided I wanted to try my hand at DMing. I asked a couple veterans to join along with a couple new players. We had our first session recently and I've been fleshing out the next leg of the adventure. I'm mostly done: the party is holed up in a small settlement and I've written four quests for them to complete before they move on.
The problem is that, holy mackerel, writing this stuff can be pretty complicated. I feel like I'm inadvertently trying to put things on tracks, but at the same time I want to be sure I account for some interesting clues in their investigations of the strange goings on in the settlement.
I don't want to completely biff it, especially with a couple of new players in the party. I'm curious if there's someplace that I can post my adventure and someone(s) might read it and give me some pointers.

Suggestion I make playlists for D&D sessions—whether you're battling dragons or just trying to bribe a goblin with a ham sandwich.
I'm starting to make ambient video and playlists for my D&D sessions and I thought that some DMs might find this useful.
You can find my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@DungeonMusicBard
I’ve been crafting custom playlists and ambient videos for D&D campaigns, and they’ve been a hit at my own table (except with the dice gods—they remain unimpressed). Whether it’s haunting tunes for a dungeon crawl or cozy vibes for a tavern scene, there’s a little something for every quest.
Let me know what you think or drop your wildest setting ideas—I might just make a playlist for it. Thanks for being awesome, and may your dice always roll in your favor!

Question DnD Software/App
Is there an app better than the others for DnD character management? I know Pathfinder has a bunch. Also, what does the OC flair stand for?

OC PBS Wisconsin just published a short (kid-friendly) video on D&D's Wisconsin origins
A state history series I help work on—The Look Back—just published an episode on the early history of Dungeons & Dragons in Wisconsin. The series is primarily aimed at upper elementary and middle school students and educators but I think it has some general appeal, as well. I thought I'd share in case there's interest here—or if any educators or parents here are looking to incorporate D&D history into their teaching!
In addition to YouTube it's also on the PBS site, our website, and the PBS streaming app.
