College GameDay for Baseball
After College Basketball ends, I wish ESPN would do College Baseball GameDay. It would be as popular as College GameDay Basketball.
My preferred panel would be: Host: Laura Rutledge Analyst: Kyle Peterson Analyst: Ben McDonald Analyst: Mike Rooney
MLB Draft: Kiley McDaniel Betting: Ben Upton Softball: Jessica Mendoza (also do analytics) Kevin Millar as the Pat McAfee
I assume Rece Davis needs a break, if not then of course he would serve as host. I can’t think of a former coach that could serve as an analyst.
If they combined Baseball and Softball, I would be cool with that as well. I think Jessica Mendoza is really good. Here is my preferred scheduled:
April 5th S. Carolina at Miss. State April 12th Washington at UCLA April 19th Louisville at Clemson April 26th Texas A&M at Texas May 3rd TCU at Arizona or Florida at S.C. May 10th Arkansas at LSU May 16th UNC at Florida State

Video for College Coaches
Trying to fill this need, we live in Montana and it’s pretty difficult and expensive for an athlete to travel to college showcases in order to get looked at. It would be nice to see if there is at least an interest in the athlete prior to traveling. I’d like to start recording video of players, especially baseball, and make a montage or highlight reel for college coaches. But I’d like to know what the majority of coaches are looking for in the video. How long should it be (ex: is there interest in a shortened inning for a pitcher or you just looking at mechanics, also an entire at bat?), do you want a close up on the position instead of entire field, what about drills or practice footage?
Some of the video I’ve seen from players posting on X and elsewhere is terrible. It’s zoomed out so far you can’t see the player, the netting is blocking the view, screaming audio, etc.
Just looking for some ideas of what college coaches would like to see, thanks everyone!

How to follow recruiting?
Hi,
Wondering if there are any diehards here who have advice on how they follow high school recruiting for their team. I don't mind paying a bit for a service to do so, but it looks to me like 247sports and Rivals are focused on just football/basketball, and PerfectGame is well out of my price range for a subscription. How do y'all keep up with croots?

Probably Unpopular Opinion: Likely JuCo ruling will be the best thing for college baseball in generations and the worst for the minors.
College Baseball has never been nearly as popular as college football or basketball, and as such it's never been as attractive to NCAA rule breaking and less profitable for NIL. On top of that, there is a robust professional minor league system. So, college baseball has always been a much less competitive league, especially at the DII/III levels.
But the JuCo ruling is going to significantly upend that system. Even baseball players will be able to make far more money playing the NIL game than they would in the minors. JuCo and DII/III schools are going to become farm programs for DI schools. And the majors are going to be plenty happy to let colleges pay for young player development and deal with the problems of young players falling into stupid amounts of money. That means that unless a player is pretty sure they are going to fly through the minors and go right into the majors there will be considerable incentive to stay in college as long as possible. And as a consequence, many young players that would have tried their game at the minors will likely have already dropped out of the game completely trying to move up through the college ranks.
This means college ball at all levels is going to get much better in the coming years and the minor leagues is going to get much worse, and there is probably going to be significant consolidation in minor league teams. (A and AA teams might go away completely.)

Significant NCAA ruling for the class of 2025
Just FYI to parents and students looking to play after high school. A judge ruled yesterday to put an injunction in place allowing a QB at Vanderbilt to have an additional year of eligibility because he spent his first year at a JUCO. Meaning that years spent at a JUCO do not count towards D1 eligibility. It invokes some anti trust laws and other jargon.
Two things- this is just an injunction right now and it is applied towards football. However, I think if it stands, it will logically include baseball as well.
As is everything right now, we’re on quicksand. So stay tuned. It’s a really strange time to be a recruit.
