Lifestyle Financial advisor?
Hi, Just wondering, is there any point is seeing a financial advisor considering my current situation?
39M, 2 kids, house paid for-no debt.
For context, the reason I want to see one is I’m unsure what to do with my income now that I have no debt. Iv been adding into my super and purchasing shares but will they guide me in a better direction to what I’m doing now?
I’m actually totally unsure what they do.
Appreciate any info. Thanks.

Job Interview With No Conformation Or Information, What Do I Do?
TLDR: I have a job interview tomorrow but have not received any conformation or any information not even an address help please.
Hi, M 21 I applied to this job advertisement last Sunday via Seek.
It says it from a company called "The Progress Faculty" which seems great and all, after I applied the next day I got a call from a lady saying she was from the company and after our conversation I was offered an interview, I accepted and chose Monday January 13th (tomorrow) I was told I would receive some kind of conformation later in the week, which I have not received.
Now after looking online I cannot even find an address for the company, it isn't listed on their website or Google Maps.
The phone number I was contacted by seems to be from another company Harver, which seems to do the exact same thing, which another company HYPA which does have a Richmond address listed and also has years of bad reviews (just search for "HYPA group reddit")
What do I do? The more I search it seems dodgier and dodgier. TIA

Tax on Severance
I’m likely going to accept a severance payment next month. I’m wondering if this will be taxed according to my marginal bracket? I understand genuine redundancy is taxed differently, but as my case is performance related I’m less hopeful. I suppose just have to cop it?

Property Is paying your debt sooner instead of buying another house a thing in Australia?
I’ve decided to pay off the remaining 280k on my loan slowly over a 3-5 yr period to make myself debt free by age 40.
I’m above median in sallary and support my stay at home pregnant wife.
So my questions is, am I going the unconventional way? Seems like majority buy a new house with an increase in their cash earnings?

Insurance P1 plater TPPD insurance sanity check - high excess low premium good/bad?
Im 21, just got P1s, car is a 2010 getz worth ~5k, have 40k savings, unemployed/low income but spend very little.
I dont care about my car, i just dont want to hit someone elses and get screwed. If the damage is minor i can easily pay it myself. Im a very inexpereinced driver, poor understanding of basics, never hoon tho i hate driving, skipped the 100 hours and somehow barely managed to pass.
After looking at all the third party property insurance these came out the cheapest:
- Coles 490 annual 600 excess + 500 for under 25
- NRMA 360 annual 2000 excess
NRMA seems more appealing but am i missing something here? as long as i dont have multiple accidents requiring over 2k in repairs in 1 year it should be better. What would you go with?

Quantifying Salary increase Expectations to move from Brisbane to Sydney?
Per title. I’m working in a strategic/corporate function and it’s clear to me that my manager & manager once removed want me in Sydney, and this would absolutely enable me to perform my role better and also give me more career progression options (I am already flagged as a high performer at my current level). I’m not necessarily stuck on the benefits, and from a personal perspective, I’d be happy to go - but it’s obviously a much more expensive city and I’m struggling to quantify what my expectations should be to enable the move.
My intention is to discuss this with my manager + Manager once removed and ask for an increase to salary if I were to move. I’ve never really had to broach this subject before, and haven’t had many salary discussions before either. I’m a bit stuck on how to quantify what I’m worth, and how the move makes me worth more. Has anyone had any similar discussions, how did you land on a number?
I can obviously look at cost of living as a guide for me personally but that does the company care from a business value add perspective? Feels a bit like pulling a number out of the air and maybe I’m over thinking it.
Obviously I’m a bit green with this stuff so any advice from anyone that has been through something similar is appreciated!

Lifestyle Investment Advice
G'day All,
Current situation is as follows:
Combined income 180-200k IP valued at 1.3-1.4m Mortgage 740k @6.34% P&I Both renting
Spoke to the bank recently and we can borrow up to 550k with 77% lvr & pull about 250k equity without maxing out.
I'm wondering what to do next? Should I focus on extra repayments towards the mortgage, look around for another investment property? (I have been looking in SE QLD)
I'm in my mid 20s with not many people to go to for this kind of advice. My personal opinion is to just keep buying as many properties as I can over the years and keep renting until i decide to potentially move into an existing IP.
What are everyone's thoughts? Cheers.

Monthly Income Savings
Looking for some general advice on saving and managing my money.
I’m 24, live at home with family, and cover my own and home expenses and (bills, phone, gym, etc.). I get paid monthly and currently try save 70% of my income, splitting it 50/50 between a HISA and regular savings . However, I always end up transferring money from my regular savings to my spending account throughout the month . Despite this, I still manage to save about 50% of my income each month.
My main questions:
1) Should I keep more of my savings in the HISA?
2) Are there better ways to grow my savings and manage my money?
Would love to hear any suggestions, tips and advice—thanks!

Tax Converting PPOR to IP
I have a mortgage for primary place of residence that is almost paid off (redraw facility, not offset). 361k loan, property value around 700k.
Planning to buy a new primary of residence with my partner and rent out my current house. Thing is, I won't get a tax advantage as the home loan is basically paid off.
Is there a way to refinance the loan so majority of debt goes onto the (converted) investment property?
Mortgage broker seems to think there is not, unless I transfer my current property into my partners name which is something I don't want to do.
Edit: seems to be there's no way around this. Appreciate the replies so far. Would a good play be to use home #1 redraw facility to debt recycle into shares? I haven't looked too far into it

I'm 19 and currently with combank which I've heard isn't the best for saving with high interest. Just want to get some guidance before I commit to anything from people that are more knowledgeable. Just looking to make a good amount t of interest for the money I've saved, thanks.

Calling All Budget-Wedding Veterans! How Did You Save Money with 50 Guests?
We’re planning a small wedding with 50 guests. Both of us are South Asian immigrants, so this is as smallest as we can go while still including close family and friends.
We’d love tips on:
- Finding affordable venues that still feel special/Getting AirBnB and DIYing rest of the stuff
- Catering from a South Asian restaurant (bonus points if you’ve done this before!)
- Other money-saving hacks you’ve discovered for small weddings
Anything else we should consider to make this work without breaking the bank? Appreciate all the advice and ideas—thanks in advance!
Edit: This would be an alcoholic-free wedding.

Debt Mortgage advise
Hey team looking for some unbiased mortgage advice if anyone can give their opinion.
Iv got $590k left on my home valued at around $850k and 25 years left on my current home loan. When I renew should I renew for 24 years or lower or renew for 25-30 years to have a lower min payment but make additional payments each month to pay it off quicker?
My financial advisor has said take the loan over longer period to reduce the minimum payment each month to reduce your required monthly outgoings but do the additional payments to pay off quicker.
Also at the moment I pay around 300 extra per month into my offset account so it is slowly building up it’s around $40k, is it better to pay that 300 extra directly into the home loan or keep topping up offset so it’s lowering your interest on the repayment.
What is your all take?

Forex Aud/Usd - where are we going
Trump is sworn in soon where he will likely start making crazy statements about tariffs and deporting low wage (== efficient) workers.
Following on from there he's going to start abusing Canada and Europe. Why? I don't know.
What does this all mean for Aus - 1mo, 3mo, 6mo, 12mo out?

What’s a standard wedding budget these days?
Hey guys - odd one but my partner and I are currently working out our budget for our first home and trying to determine how much we need to be setting aside for things like our wedding etc in the near future.
We would probably look to be married at a venue somewhere in Brisbane or the Gold Coast (nice venue, normal sit down dinner, band, photographer, 50-100 attendees) - our friends who have recently had weddings like this said it cost them around 50k. My partner doesn’t seem to believe that they can be that expensive! Just wondering if this is the norm these days based on what you guys have experienced.
