No new Defender on sale for Atari ?
Just curious if anyone to know why I'm unable to find Defender in Atari cartridge or Activision as a brand new product sold either on amazon or even Atari's website? I'm a genX'er who wants to eventually get the 7800plus as my first game console ever as an adult- since Atari is what I had growing up. Should I reconsider Atari and go with another console just for that?

If you had to choose who would be Atari's mascot character?
Like Nintendo's Mario, Sega's Sonic and Sony is just the school bike of mascots so I don't think they really count.
But out of these they have to be recognisable by most people and marketable maybe cute or edgy etc depending on the look the company is going for.
The most recognisable I was thinking was probably Pac-Man though I don't know because even though he does kind of fulfil all the boxes I don't really see him as a true mascot I don't know why.
I just thought I would ask what you thought if you were given the choice who would you choose and is it a personal choice or is it something you think could actually rival the aforementioned characters either presently or in the future with the right marketing?

New Year, Old Games: What are some of the most palatable Atari 2600 games?
I have never played any of the Atari console games before, but as I venture into retro gaming, I know I want to have at least a small amount of firsthand knowledge on some of these titles.
However, I also know that games from this era were fairly rudimentary, as gaming was in its early days. Most A26 games were under 10KB after all. Still, while some Atari games may have been clunky and experimental, I’m sure a number are still playable today.
What are your recommendations?

FujiNet is a network adapter for many 8-bit systems. How simple is it to program? 6 lines of BASIC can make a program to dial BBSes! Shown here is the Atari 8-bit version.

Does Yars Revenge have a kill screen bug?
Currently the only way to end that I know of are: running out of lives, and getting the HSWWSH Easter egg screen. Is it possible to crash Yars Revenge by playing nonstop like Pac Man's level 256 bug? Or would Yars Revenge theoretically play infinitely?

Do you think Atari will make a modern system after they are done remaking their old one's?
I like the idea of Atari remaking there old consoles but would like to know if they will try and compete on the mainstream console stage again?
Personally I'd like to see two things one I mostly use my console to surf the Internet and watch YouTube and I'd like them to have a more modern controller.
Do you think this is something they are planning or do you think they will go in a different direction?
Thank you dad!
I wanted to post this to a group that would appreciate it.
When I was a kid, my dad bought me an Atari 800XL (w/ built-in Basic) and I learned to write code with it and some Antic magazines. Wrote my own games (at 11)... Do you realize how hard it is to draw a simple circle with Plot and DrawTo commands???
I became an e-commerce & web developer... also a system admin.
Thank you dad.

Just a friendly reminder that the Atari ST with 2MB RAM could run llms
So I ported llama inference stuff to Amiga, Atari and Classic Mac. So we have AI finally running on machines that are nearly ~40 years old :)

Question for anyone in the sub who may know.
I got a 7800+ for Christmas, but I'd like some extra controllers for it and I've seen that the Flashback 7800 Mini controllers are pretty cheap compared to other controllers. Does anybody know if they work with the 7800+?

Ah...the good old days
gallerySanta brought me a 2600+ for Christmas, so I've been going through my cart collection. I collected mostly in the 1990s, before ebay and "retro gaming" became really popular. I had to chuckle when I saw the price tags! Pretty much all my carts cost between 25 cents and 1 dollar. Ah...the good old days!

Atari 7800+ Controller Issue
Has anyone else had issues with their 7800+ wireless controllers? I've played maybe 2-3 hours since I got it on christmas, and already the buttons seem broken.
Like if I hold/hit the 1 button, it keeps registering that I tapped the 2 button. And vice versa.
I emailed atari but no response yet- I'm hoping this is just a one off issue but curious if anyone else has has this issue. You'd really think atari would have learned to avoid defective controllers...

Breakout Recharged Controller Fix?
Bought Breakout Recharged on Steam, playing on Mac. How do I use my joystick instead of the wonky mouse controls? I've got my X-Arcade Tankstick mapped for other Steam content, but this Atari game.....
Which modern Atari joystick 🕹️ do you think is the best ?
The VCS 800 Joystick ?
The My Arcade Gamestation Pro Joystick ?
The Atari 400 mini Joystick ?
( In terms of everything, Built quality, features, Led Lights, compatibility with other devices etc ).

Gamestation Pro Audio Static
Hello everyone,
I just recently got the Gamestation Pro for Christmas and I'm having an issue with the audio. The best way to describe it would be static overtop the standard game audio. I have a fairly normal setup. Thanks in advance for any help!

Merry Christmas to me!
i.redd.itWell I just had to spoil myself this Christmas with these new Atari products! I know my old systems will still get the job done but the hdmi is what made me curious enough to make the purchase and I just had to have Ninja Golf!

It was an Atari Christmas!
galleryI recently got a 5200, last of the consoles I needed (and that includes the VCS). Not really interested in the 2600+/7800+ or 400mini, yet, but I got these.
Oh, and on a recent trip to an area mall, discovered they had a pair of those Pong hardware tables for play.
