It was the first horror - and first King novel I read. I was 12 and it scared the shit outta me and I loved it.

I read it in a single day while serving in-school suspension in like 7th or 8th grade. That was just a few years after it was first published.

A fantastic book and a fantastic movie, though I understand why SK King didn't like the film.

SK, I guess that’s not Stanley Kubrick. SK didn’t like the film because it took a book the wasn’t critically well received and turned it into a masterpiece of cinema?

Yes, King, sorry. If I were a thinking person, it would have occurred to me that they share initials. I’ll edit above.

But yes, King didn’t like it because he felt it strayed too far from the source work.

Did you see the miniseries of Stephen King’s The Shining? I just love how Rebecca DeMornay played the Mom as a stronger character, and it was truer to the book.

Great one. I enjoyed "It" more, I think it's King's Magnum opus. Currently reading The Stand, enjoying it a lot!

I think The Stand is my favorite King book. Honestly, one of my favorite books period.

I remember reading it the first time and being like "Yeah I see why King didn't like the movie adaptation"
