The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It's a beautiful story about following your dreams and listening to your heart.

Loved this book! It's one of the few that I've read that I plan to read again

I assigned this book to my students (HS English teacher) and they hated it! I feel like they never understood the message of the book.

Ha, I argue with my sister about this often. She enjoys it very much but I argue that it’s frustrating and encourages a bit of disturbing subservient behaviour

She gave me the Manual of The Warrior of Light which I love much more. Thought it’s more the independent thoughts of the Alchemist without the narrative framing

He is such a mediocre writer that I can only imagine every translation must have been done by much better writers. The original reads as a cheap self-help.
