Moss time Picture

Post image

Still don't know what species these guys are but they love the marimo moss in my tank.

I hope they get along with the cherry shrimp I plan on putting in soon. I was worried the shrimp would accidentally eat them when they were itty bitty so I waited longer to let them grow a bit. I think they're big enough now that the shrimp hopefully won't harm them.

Are they little piano snails?

They don't appear to be! My babies come out a good bit larger than some of the other viviparids I've had, and their shells are nearly opaque and have their stripes right when they come out! Plus that gorgeous dark foot (っ˘ω˘ς )♡ Unless they're one of the gold/coffee/chestnut colored ones... Then they're just solid lol!

I can take a picture of a newborn tomorrow for reference if you want?!

Editing to add I think they might be faucet snails??

Editing again because I found this video and this picture among my posts showing newborn-1 week olds!

I've been told by others that they are too young to really identify. But you're like the 3rd person or so to mention faucet snails! Maybe I will keep that species in mind as they keep growing.

I do agree that they're too young to say for sure, they're definitely not pianos tho lol! Excited to see them get bigger and they can get a solid ID (:

I actually have 4 of them too! Three of them are about this size and another much smaller one. They probably hitched a ride on some plants I bought online. I mostly worry they might be a species that will be too big for the 3 gal tank they are in. It was originally meant for only cherry shrimp. And I don't have room in my apartment for a larger tank because I have roommates. For now though I am just enjoying them and watching them grow. I get happy seeing them come out when I turn the light on.

4 pianos you're saying? Can I see them? 👀 If they really are piano snails, they'll definitely be too big for a 3 gallon sadly :c

I'm not sure if they are pianos. They're all babies like in the picture and share the same tank. I rarely see all 4 of them at once. Usually only see them when they are on the glass or the decorations. They kind of blend in with the substrate. But for you, I will try to catch a moment when they are all visible. :)

Just wanna make sure I'm interpreting correctly, you're saying there are the babies in the picture and then other babies that look different, right? Lol!

Ok, we definitely have a miscommunication. Lol.

ALL of them look like the ones in the picture.
