Freshwater She died

Post image
11 Upvotes

My beautiful big momma guppy (about a year old, maybe just less than) had her babies last night and died 😭 She’s my favorite female. I woke up to her dead and floating crooked and all but 1 of the babies dead on the bottom and weirdly shaped. 1 baby is alive but still laying at the bottom and occasionally moves a bit.

I’m so sad.

I’m already having a bad depression day ☹️

I didn’t include a dead photo. Just a pic of her I took yesterday in the breeder box

Freshwater I want a hard color fish

Post image

I've got this beautiful tank with gold danios and a red honey gourami and a couple tiger barbs. One day I want to put shrimp in it so when the tiger barbs go to fishy heaven I want to replace them with a more peaceful fish that can chill with the shrampies, but I don't want to lose the pop of contrast and color they add to the tank. Any suggestions on other small bold fish? Similar color scheme, similar pattern, completely different pattern idk just sending it to the ether

Full Tank Shot Water is in my new 29 gal waiting to cycle is killing me

Post image

I purchased a 29 gal 2 weeks ago after slowly getting things for it. Everything you see in the tank other than the substrate (i am aware i went overboard), I have bought over the last 2 months and put into my 20g long to get bacteria loaded, and I have a bubble filter in there now which I'll move in next week.

I'm using my over the back which has seen 2 years of work in my old tank, and I will take it out for the other filter bc I just wanted to use the carbon to help clear the water right now.

All my fish will be moving over, and I plan to get more neons, and some guppies (male only) for the first time alongside some other plants.

This post really has no point other than I'm dying to see it cycle, but while you're here, what plant would you use as a "centerpiece?"

I'll be putting in Java fern onto the rocks on the righthand side, DHG up front and in the little cave I made, but i really want a nice big plant for the righthand back of the tank. I was thinking Amazon sword, but holy hell that plant would overtake this tank. I do want one that would grow out of the tank on that side, so what do you suggest?

Freshwater What would you put in this tank? 20g L

Right now i have a small school of spotted rasboras (boraras maculatus) and small school of Norman's lampeye killis. The plan os to potentially move them to one of my other tanks to get more of a centerpiece fish if theyre not compatible. I have relatively harder water but have been able to keep some softer water fish if locally bred. If I keep them in there I'm thinking of some kind of tetra or maybe more rasboras. I also am thinking of a big school of corydoras as it's been a few years since I've kept some. The only thing I want to stay away from is bettas (as we have other tanks for them) and rams (I've kept them before but I'm ready for something else I haven't kept before)

Discussion/Article Interesting algea patterns on glass

Post image

My new tank is fully cycled and life has exploded, including algae and THREE HITCHHIKER SNAILS 😡 (I love them tho). Tons of little tiny worms and flea looking things. I noticed today that the algea is really strange looking.. what are these triangles? How weird is that! I don't intend on getting rid of the algea yet since there are little tiny snails that need to grow but I just thought it was kind of cool :)

Help/Advice Tank mate suggestions?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hello! Just added my beta Cilantro into this 20 gallon long. Personally it seems a little boring but i’m happy with it. He has two tank mates currently. There’s some sort of mystery pleco? I got him as a gift and don’t really know what he is, but he’s good at keeping the glass clean. As you can see i got Onion the lone neon tetra close to the right. I made a mistake when i first started out and he was the only survivor, but he’s been doing great! He was the smallest and now he’s all big! Other than getting more homies for Onion, i was wondering what other good tank mates i should get to help keep up the tank? Maybe some bottom dwellers to eat missed food? Any advice regarding plants, substrates, supplies etc. would be much appreciated too!

Discussion/Article Just out of curiosity, how many tanks do you guys have and what fish?

Upvotes

Just bought my second today, which will serve as a growout for when my two bristlenoses breed.

The addiction grows...

(I'd be interested to know your favourite fish, by individual's name or by species, and some of your fish's names if you'd like to share)

Controversial post 😂😳 I have platys, swords, Mollys, tetras, rasboras, and guppies. This little guy came out so plain I thought he was a feeder goldfish. Who do you think he came from?

Help/Advice Leaking tank (UNS)

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

I just bought my first tank, a UNS rimless off Marketplace, took it home and filled up just a few inches.

I think it’s leaking in one corner. You can see the mat is pretty wet (I was able to gently move the tank a half inch). Is there a way to fix this easily or did I get a lemon?

This guy likes to bite and tear off the long roots of the water lettuce. Does anyone know why. It's about to be a week since I got this guy... I also have 5 guppies can they be the culprit?

Help/Advice What can I add to my 75 gallon tank?

I have a 75 gallon "decorated" with driftwood, fake plants and gravel as the bottom, but it's really empty. In this tank, I have 8 giant danios and a (baby) blood red parrot chichild. I'm not sure if I should wait until I get a larger (and less boring) tank for them, but it'll be a while until I can do that. Or if there is anything else I can put in that tank to make it a little more lively. Anyone have any ideas? I'd like it to stay decently low stocked but I'm open to all ideas.

For reference, I live in Melbourne and I stumbled across this aquarium store. I was really excited but when I walked in, all I saw was fish in tiny little jars with nothing else. I’m no expert on whether it’s ok or not, I just I’d ask here for your opinions.

My platies have been in our hospital tank for several days now. It took erythromycin and some ich meds to finally get them back to normal. I'm keeping them in the hospital for a little while to make sure they're clear. Surprisingly, I discovered a handful of babies swimming around this evening! This is my first time with babies, and I'm speechless.
