It's satire, but at the same VERY true. A lot of hobbyists are looking for shortcuts when they realize how daunting aquarium husbandry is compared to non-aquatic animals. All the chemistry and biology needed to successfully keep an aquarium is immense.

Every other week there's a new thread about whether or not waterchanges are needed when in reality waterchanges are the cheapest, most effective method of ensuring the balance of water parameters/chemistry.

It’s actually pretty simple. Just over filter the hell out of a tank. https://aquariumscience.org Makes a lot of ppl made but very good page with SCIENCE based advice

Not all DOCs can be removed via filtration unless you use some dialysis machine. It’s much cheaper to use water changes.

Moreover, water changes can induce breeding in a lot of fish.
