Discussion Paris Dev + Scan

Upvotes

Going to be working Paris next month and want to have rolls processed locally rather than flying home with exposed, undeveloped rolls. Arka and Nation are the labs I've seen suggested on most posts. Am I reading their prices correctly @ ~ 32 eud / roll for 120 Dev + Scan?

My normal Aus & UK labs are about half this so just wondering if I'm reading their lists wrong or if it's just much more expensive in France for analogue services?

Gear/Film Worth selling on eBay? (Not selling on here, just want an idea)

Post image

I got this setup for $30. Motor drive is cooked so I’m just throwing it out, but the camera is great! I see Nikon F3s going for $300 or more on eBay under the sold tag. Mines a bit scuffed up but I’ve tested it many times over, and it works 100%. It also has a 50mm 1.2 lens. Best I can tell that’s also worth alot of money. I’ve been considering just selling the whole camera. I love it, but considering it’s worth I can probably buy a decent medium format camera or a decent digital or something similar, especially considering I spent next to nothing on it.

Community The analog community and troubleshooting posts.

I've noticed something peculiar about the analog communitys relationship with others having issues with their cameras.

Why is it that when people post troubleshooting questions with light leaks, flairing, bloom etc, unless the picture is completely fucked, half of the replies will very often be: "looks cool man!" or "don't change anything!"?

While i understand that a part of films appeal is embracing its imperfections, is there any other hobby communities where someone can have issues with their gear and half of the replies are so... unhelpful?

Gear/Film Canonet QL17 stiff focusing

Does anyone have any tips for loosening up the focusing tab for a QL17? I’ve heard of applying a small amount of lighter fluid or leaving the camera in a warm area to loosen up the lubricants. Are there other ways to make the focus tab move smoother besides taking it apart?

Any tips are appreciated!

Scanning Issues with Valoi Easy35 Slide holder

Has anyone else had issues using the slide holder to scan slides? I've had no problem scanning negatives but the slide holder is mangling my slides. The metal spring bars that hold the slide in place are much too strong and keep the slides from going in. A slide has to be forced in, but then it gets crunched by spring bars to the point that the slide gets bent. These were old slides in cardboard frames so I took the trouble to transfer them to plastic frames and it's still happening. Am I doing something wrong or did I just get a dud? u/VALOIco, I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Gear/Film Shutter release cable for Kodak Brownie Flash II

I'm looking for information on what shutter release cable would be compatible with my 1956 Kodak Flash 2. I have learned that I do not possess the ability to hold it steady enough to get good pictures with such a slow shutter speed. Even if I put it on a surface and press the button, I still manage to introduce some shake with the button press.

Some googling has come up with little information, all I can find is "any vintage Kodak SRC should work", but I live in Australia and have yet to find one on ebay/online that won't cost me loads of money to ship here.

Are there any alternatives or generics that will work for these types of brownies?

Discussion Scored a 65 Years old Halina Paulette Electric

I usually go with my girlfriend to flea markets around our home towns and yeah, there are a lot of analog cameras around, but most of them suffer from oily shutters or have too many scratches or fungus inside the lens or the guys overprice them (somebody asked 150 euros for a stuck OM-2 with a huge dent and lots of scratches on the lens) so yeah I mostly abstain from buying them from flea markets, but today I found this Halina Paulette Electric from 1965, the lenses looks very ok, just cleaned it, no scratches, the mechanical system, shutter speed, aperture works and most surprising the selenium Metter looks to be working and precise from my tests... So yeah, a nice find for once. I'll load some b&w film and I'll test it for some landscape photography and maybe some portraits despite hating to have no idea if my subject is REALLY in focus and of course converting from feet to meters in my head (taking in account the aperture opening ofc) and I'll come back with my results.

Last Pic is the flea market cameras collection. Don't judge the ducks. 😂

Scanning Need help with DSLR Scanning

Hello there,

Ive been scanning with a mirrorless m43 camera from the 2010 for a while, its been fine so far but the quality was never...great. I switched to a nikon d800 with the nikkor 60mm macro but finding focus is quite a hassle. No focus peaking, working with tether has been a nightmare.

How do you guys do it ? Should i invest in a better tether cable ? Is it best to just try nailing focus at f/9 and just blasting through a roll shooting with a remote shtter release cable ?

Gear/Film How can I DIY a cover to check if this camera works?

I have tried googling how to solve this problem and I cannot find anything. Obviously everybody says to just go buy a battery cover or a camera that’s four parts but I am leaving in two days to vacation and I would like to test this camera before I leave. Please if you have any solutions let me know! or if you know of any other camera battery covers that are compatible with this one!

Community Where to reliably get film developed in Maryland?

I just recently moved back to Maryland after 5 years of being gone and where I lived we had somewhere local that developed film, and mind you it wasn’t in house there so I am perfectly fine with sending it out through a business, but after moving home I’ve realized the only place at least near me specifically is Walmart? And I have heard horror stories about people constantly losing film with them and I really don’t wanna go through that. Any and all recommendations are welcome, or if you think Walmart is fine and have experience developing film with them I would love to hear it, basically just wanna calm some anxiety around this and finally get through my backlog of film that’s only getting bigger. Thank you in advance

Gear/Film Camera is rewinding too early

Hello together, Analog beginner here. My Canon Prima Twin S (automatic rewind) is rewinding the film too early - not always after the same amount of pictures but way to early. I started to check the internet for info and it basically said when its a second hand camera (which it is) you cant do much.

Is this true? Thank you for your help!
