3 day weekend stop on our honeymoon

I'll be coming to the Algarve (from porto) on a Saturday (right after NYE 2025). Would've ideally scheduled it the other way round since its a weekend, but picked this route due to the ease of travel.

Wanted to party a little on the Saturday and plan a chill scenic next 2 days, whats your offbeat recommendation? Also, is the nightlife in Albufeira overrated?

Edit : I've booked a hotel near the strip for the first day (So the first day is confirmed) reccos for iconic bars and pubs would be great. The remaining 2 days I'm planning (not yet booked) a casino beach resort in portimao

Yes, Albufeira is absolutely overrated

*Algarve

Whatch out here some words can look a lot alike ...

e.g. LagoA is not the same as LagoS

what would you pick between Lagos and Portimao (for a beach resort) ?

Lagos (or Praia da Luz , near Lagos)

But it all depends on your expectations...

Albufeira is the Ibiza "Wish dot com" 😆

Edited: added "dot com"

Lagos then Vila do Bispo and Sagres. Its all the same direction. West. Forget about Albufeira. Its a shithole.

Thanks!

Unfortunately I booked Albufeira in a hurry :(. But i'm literally reaching at 9pm on a Saturday and checking out the next day (off to the west)

Do you suggest we Stay at one place and take day trips for the next 2 days? Or stay at Lagos as well as Sagres (Also, which amongst these would have better cliffside sunsets? I saw Lagos being more of a beach town, given the weather, I know beaches won't be a good idea anyway, hence preferring a cliffside resort)

Sunsets? Anywhere Will be awesone. Sagres is more rugged and wild. Lagos is more practical and closer to other things like the city centre etc… The places are all very close. Save money on the stay spend it on a nice local restaurant. In between lagos and sagres you can enjoy vila do bispo. Try “percebes” aka gooseneck barnacles.
