Algarve in early January??
Hello! I’m traveling to Algarve in early January. Curious what will be happening, anything with music or the best bars/ local spots to visit? Best museum ideas? I’d love any ideas! I’m going with a partner so down for some silly local craziness

Looking for a photographer for a friend photoshoot
Hello all,
I’m visiting downtown Faro with my best friend during the first week of January. We don’t have a lot of nice photos together and I would love to have a few taken together. Do you know a professional or freelance photographer there?
We are thinking about something like 1 hour, 15 photos, and light editing. Sometime between Jan 1-4.
Thank you so much in advance for any recommendations.

Obrigada!

Where to actually catch fish from shore while spinning?
I've been to portimao and alvor jetty's for 5 days straight and have gotten skunked 5 days straight. I've been watching people use bait and get skunked. Are these water fished out by big boats? I have never in my life been to a place with such a fish less ocean. I see people catch baby durado and one dude brought in a seabass! I was jealous and happy for him at the same time.
Also it just seems to be durado and seabass available.
What gives?

Hello everyone! I’m planning a solo trip in Lagos , I want to escape for a few days from the grey winter . I’m having some doubts about the transport , is there any buses in January that departs from Faro airport to Lagos ? Or is there only the regional train ? (I don’t have a car license ). I want to plan ahead without any bad surprises :) I hope you can give me good tips ! Thank you for your time

Carvoeiro or Albufeira?
For the last two years, we’ve been spending six weeks from February to April in Albufeira. This year we are going later in March and thinking of trying Cavoeira. We do like to go out for nice dinners almost every night, have coffees and cocktails at restaurants by the beach and also go watch some live bands. We love to go hiking and be close to the beach. Wondering if Cavoeira offers this as we found Albufeira a little too busy. Thoughts?

Are these aloe plants killed on purpose? Or disease/insects? Or do they just die in winter time?

3 day weekend stop on our honeymoon
I'll be coming to the Algarve (from porto) on a Saturday (right after NYE 2025). Would've ideally scheduled it the other way round since its a weekend, but picked this route due to the ease of travel.
Wanted to party a little on the Saturday and plan a chill scenic next 2 days, whats your offbeat recommendation? Also, is the nightlife in Albufeira overrated?
Edit : I've booked a hotel near the strip for the first day (So the first day is confirmed) reccos for iconic bars and pubs would be great. The remaining 2 days I'm planning (not yet booked) a casino beach resort in portimao

Where to stay in Algarve for a big family trip over the Christmas break.
Hello, my family and I are travelling to Algarve this December. We are trying to decide where to stay. We are 3 families with children from ages 7-14. We are not crazy about beaches and looks like it will be too cold. Where would you recommend we stay please? Which of the towns will have good restaurant options for this time of the year? Can you also please recommend nice things to do with kids ages 7-14? Thank you in advance

Vineyard stay in Portimão/Lagos area
Hello,
I see a ton of posts asking for travel advice in general so I'll leave that for everyone else. But I'm hoping for some tips on a vineyard to stay at for a trip in february. Preferably not something too fancy, maybe like a cottage or something similar to rent at a vineyard.
If that doesnt excist would anyone happen to know a vineyard that also has a restuarant (that is open in february?).
Failing that - where to go for some good local wines in Portimão or Lagos?
Thanks so much for the advice!

Any recommended keyboardists in the Algarve?
I'm planning my wedding for next April in the Algarve, and I’m looking for a versatile keyboardist who who can play a mix of genres, including rare-groove, R&B, gospel, hymns and jazzy hip hop.
If anyone has any recommendations or knows a keyboardist in the Algarve, I’d be incredibly grateful for your suggestions! Thank you!

Benagil / 7HVT Planning
Planning a trip to Portugal in May 2025, and want to get a sanity check on our plan. We are trying to avoid renting a car, but not sure if that is just making things more difficult with trying to time public transit. We will be spending a few days in Lagos, and would like to see Benagil Caves from the water and hike the 7 Hanging Valleys Trail.
We are thinking about taking the R train from Lagos to Estombar-Lagoa at 6:54, and then taking an Uber or Bolt from the train stop in Estombar-Lagoa to Marinha Beach to start the hike around 8:00 We will hike the length of 7HVT, and continue on into Carvoeiro. It is my understanding that 7HVT 'officially' ends at Praia do Vale de Centeanes, however it looks like it's possible to continue on into Carvoeiro. Has anyone done this before & can confirm? I estimate that this will take us about 2.5 hours, which would get us to Carvoeiro around 10:30. We would then take a boat tour from Carvoeiro at 11:00-12:00 to see the Benagil Caves from the water. We would grab a quick lunch, and then take an Uber/Bolt back to the Estombar-Lagoa train stop to catch the 1:40 R train back to Lagos.
Is this an absolutely insane plan to see what we want to see as economically as possible, or does it seem reasonable?
