$6.5 mil, for 1800 acres = 3,611 an acre. For farm land that might be a fair price, but I feel like that is pretty cheap for that real estate.

I guess that’s incredibly generous of the current owners. I hope the blm and forest service uses it in a way that benefits everyone.

There are so many examples of private landowners across Oregon that recognize the unique value of their land and would rather people of all walks of life enjoy it for generations. This is in contrast to a one time development that destroys the land for any further use functionally permanently. So I don't think using $$real estate$$ is an appropriate comparison.

Though I do think it is incredible generous and maybe naming it after (if they wouldn't mind, of coarse) them would be extremely appropriate, or an easement for their existing property, property tax break, etc. Something that us humble public may be able to give back to them.
