Official r/caving tiny space discussion thread!
The mods have noticed, and received feedback, about the overwhelming amount of posts here regarding passing through tight spaces, rescuing from them, etc. In a way, it feels like a passive violation of Rule 4. Future posts about small spaces may be removed under Rule 4. This post however is open for discussion of all things small spaces!
Please, however, we still do not want to talk about Nutty Putty.
If you find the thread is too big, please feel free to make use of the search feature to look for tight spaces.

Help getting started
Hello r/caving ! I'm new on all this and 've always been amazed by caving videos. Now I decided I want to invest in this, I just don't know where to start. I reside in Brazil and 'm not sure how to find proper places? As I'm new it would be nice to have some sort of community to guide me through this, be it either IRL or here just for learning purposes. I'm fully unexperienced so I was wondering if I'd need something in particular (other than training and learning safety practices of course) to get started. I hope this post is apropriate for here, if not please lmk! Hope you all have a grest gime be it day or night, thanks in advance!

My first expedition in an extraordinary cave located in Brazil.
galleryI don't usually see photos and posts about Brazilian caves in this sub. So, to contribute, here are some pictures of a cave I visited in the northeastern region of the country, which has about 42 km of mapped passages. P.S.: the lighting on the lake in the last photo is not permanent; it was done using the expedition's flashlights.
Since this is a cave open to visit (at some extense), although the part I visited is not yet fully open to adventure tourism and is still in the preparatory phase, I will gladly share its name and location if the mods authorize it.
Also note that, the first photo is in a differente day, about the more "touristic" part of the same cave, which allowed for shorts. It's so big a plane could fly inside (por only a couple hundreds meters, of course lol).

Ellisons Trip February
Hello, I’m looking for 2-3 vertically competent cavers to go drop incredible with me some weekend in February. Plan is to try and make it to the big clear crystal.

Hey guys! Can anybody give me directions to the large clear formation in Ellisons cave?
Just direct message me please. That crystal looks phenomenal and I’d love to go to it! I’ve been down incredible and seen a bunch of crystals, but I stopped somewhere around gnomes creamery I think because I got turned around.

Any good compact cameras for long underground expeditions?
Hello, I am doing up to 10h long expeditions in an underground cave and I would like to try to record them on a compact video camera that would go on my forehead, under the helmet. Are there any cameras that would allow that and also have enough battery and storage for up to 10h of recording?

How is caving involved in your life outside of caves?
What I am really asking is if you have cave related hobbies (ie photography, looking for new caves)
or if you do any work or research with caves, either personally or professionally?
I’m relatively new to this community, and really was just wondering about this.

I Wanna go exploring (England)
I’ve been wanting to exploring to find some caves but I don’t know where to check, but never know how or where to look exactly and was hoping some people here may know of some caves that are close to London that aren’t tourist spots?

cave near zion/bryce canyon in utah

Mask/eye protection + other product recommendations for drilling?
Is any N95 fine to protect against the Silica that comes from drilling into limestone, or do I need to be particular with what I buy? I was looking at some half-face 3m respirators and then thinking to get some N95 particulate filters, plus just some tight goggles.
Also, any drill + drill bit recommendations? I am intending to use Petzl Pulse, the removable 12mm bolts.
I have many 3m vflex sitting around from last fire season (I live in Southeast Asia), would that be enough? I rather get 3m for drilling... For extra safety.

Got a permit to climb Topless Dome soon and have good descriptions of the rebelays and rope work required. Had anyone in this sub been up there yet? We’re stoked!

Harness hurts my testicles
I use petzl superavanti but it does not have any ball room. It hurts like hell while ascending. It squeezes my testicles so much. How can i fix that without changing my harness ? I do not use any underwear in caves btw. (Should i wear to help this problem ?) I wear just thermal suit and caving suit. And i am pretty new to caving.
