Community Rules Discussion — We Want Your Input!
Hello r/yachporn enthusiasts,
As we continue to grow as a community, it's important to set some guidelines to ensure that everyone can enjoy the subreddit. We’ve drafted some basic rules (see below) to keep this a positive and enjoyable space for all. But before we finalize them, we’d love to hear your thoughts!
Here are the draft rules in no particular order:
- High-quality resolution content. Please submit the highest resolution image you can! If you find a great photo, run it through TinEye or Google Images. If there is a higher-res photo, submit that instead.
- Content Relevance. Photos of models, paintings, blueprints, plans, machinery, shipboard life, etc are accepted as well! As long as it has to do with yachts, submit it.
- No URL shorteners. Do not submit a shortened link using a URL shortener like tinyurl, bit.ly etc.
- Provide meaningful description/context. Include some context in the title (such as the name of the ship, owner, shipyard, or location).
- Be Respectful and Courteous. No personal attacks, hate speech, or harassment towards any person or a group of people. Keep the community positive and welcoming.
- Follow Reddit's Guidelines. Ensure your posts adhere to Reddit's content policy and Reddiquette.
- No politics or controversial topics. Keep discussions focused on yachting and related topics. Political debates or controversial non-boating topics are not allowed to maintain a peaceful community atmosphere.
- No Self-Promotion. Personal promotions, business ads, or spam are prohibited unless approved by the mods. Occasional self-promotion is allowed but must follow Reddit's guidelines.
- No Unauthorized Surveys or Market Research. r/yachtporn is not the place for market research or surveys.
- Moderation discretion. To account for possible violations that may not fit any of the rules fully or partially.
Any feedback on the above or other ideas are very welcome.

That’s fine … I think we should find a way to promote posts from people’s photo and not random photo one finds online … I know … it’s tough to enforce. Like I’m based in NYC and go to the gym by Chelsea Piers … I see and photograph yacht locally
