What’s the safeguard?
Was watching with subtitles and the voice is called the Algorithm

my guess is that the safeguard will kill all inside the silo. secrecy has been shown to be important, and if you know too much you will be delt with

We don’t know yet, but good note with the subtitles! Basically proves it’s an AI right?

Just finished the latest episode of Silo, and just wow! That was probably the best episode of the series so far; so many twists and turns, insights, and plot developments. Every minute felt important and kept you engaged. Episodes like this are what separates AppleTV+ ahead of every other streaming platform.
Squid Games got nothing on Silo! And just to think next week is the season finale AND season opener for Severance. They couldn’t have scheduled it any better!!
Also there’s a couple YouTube videos that basically spoil Silo by telling what happens in all the books, I watched one of the recap videos so I kind of know what’s going to happen but still hasn’t taken away any of my enjoyment. Juliet lives!

Squid game is pretty simple compared to silo. The only reason why it gained so much popularity was that it’s kinda unique. It’s not meant to be a complex story. Complex stories aren’t all that common in Korea, especially tv shows.

thanks for mentioning that series! the plot looks fenomenal, I'll give it a chance after finishing silo. Any other reccomendations?

Can’t give my thoughts on yet as I just started it, but at least its longer than the other ones so far. 63 minutes is better then 50! Edit: make sure y’all watch this in a dark room, holy shit it’s a dark episode.
Edit 2: at least the cuts between silos are not so frenetic. Definitely better then last episode, although unless next episode is damn near 3 hours long we’re gonna have a hella cliffhanger.

Yeah we had to turn all the room lights off and make sure all the blinds were closed to watch this one. Could barely see anything until we did that.

They got this one out an hour earlier than usual.

That was an amazing episode!!!
I've said it since day one Solo was the kid
1
u/predator-handshake 3h ago
He’s not the kid. The kid was the sheriff’s son. Solo/Jimmy was IT’s son. We see the sheriff die outside, we see the IT head die in front of the vault

how the fuck this will end in 2 more seasons 😵💫
1
u/predator-handshake 3h ago
It can absolutely be done. Book 2 is three parts. Only one of those parts is needed for the show. Book 3 is short.
1
u/Imaginary-Funny-8789 3h ago
so most of book 2 will not be adapted?
2
u/lewkablew 2h ago
Unfortunately it probably won’t :( but hopefully we get enough of the backstory because I loved book 2 so much!!

The best episode of the season so far! And there is a central silo that watches and controls everything? And wait, Judge Meadows made it to that door? When did THAT happen??
3
u/kitty07s 3h ago
I think she made it 25 years ago but it turned her into alcoholic. Maybe she saw aftermath of the rebellion and gave up all hope until she learned about a good suit .

Yep. She was the IT shadow for a while, knowing everything except about the master AI. So she decoded Quinn’s message, went down there, got the secret, it ruined her, and had to keep it to herself forever, probably why she drank and kept so many relics…and with an opportunity to leave she jumped at the chance only for Bernard to steal her life away from her.
I’m guessing all the silos are all maintained by this master AI (the subtitles say “The Algorithm”), and its directive is to keep them alive by keeping them busy or whatever. Maybe they’re lab rats, or the secret is so devastating that it would cause the people in the silo to give up. They need to maintain hope, and Quinn was the one who came up with the best method possible to keep them alive as long as possible without frequent rebellions.

This episode was fucking incredible. The build up & realization of who Solo actually is was marvelously executed. The Algorithm reveal with the Silo music theme is peak

So wait...are Rick and Audrey siblings? They kept saying "our parents" but they also have a child together?

Can someone break down who Salvador Quinn is and who were the 2 others aside from Meadows to make it to the door.
2
u/Gedi1986 1h ago
Only 3 people before Lucas made it to the door so 4 total Salvador,Judge Meadows,George and Lucas

u/shildishchab 1h ago
Salvador Quinn is the person that supposedly started the rebellion 140 years ago. They revealed earlier in the season that he was secretly the hero all along by developing a way for humans in the Silo to live in harmony and to stop future rebellions: take away all their books and memories/items of the past.
The only 3 people to ever get to the tunnel were Meadows, George, and now Lukas. Meadows was the judge that was killed by Bernard, George was Juliette’s ex who was murdered in season 1 (same guy that helped Holston’s wife crack the hard drive in S1E01).

u/Left-Key-7399 1h ago
Did we know about George before this episode or was it revealed he reached the door until now?
1
u/shildishchab 57m ago
I think they mentioned at some point that he “found what he was looking for”. In S1 Juliette also uses the rope to almost go down into the water because George mentioned something about it

What a good fucking episode. Lured me to sleep the last 8 but this one was great!

This is the best show to come out of Apple TV and this episode was the top! Can’t wait for next Friday!

I think severance is even better than this. This is just post apocalyptic, so hella cool for people who love that, like me.

Just when you think there's finally an episode without Sims, he shows up towards the end...

u/ToolFreak21 1h ago
Thank god they renewed it for S3 and 4 and supposedly are filming them back to back. It will be very interesting to see how they end this season. Let's hope we see the next season in about a year to a year and a half from now.

That was an amazing episode. I wish they had paced the season more like this one.
So Solo is Jimmy and he’s been in the vault since he was 12. The rebellion in 17 happened about 30 years ago.
Bernard is toast. Everyone has turned on him. Obviously Knox was sending him a false narrative. I really don’t know what else he can do at this point.
The door thing was kind of weird. Not sure I like Sili (siri for the silo? Dunno someone more clever give it a better name). I wonder though, which Silo does that lead to? Jimmy said there were multiple silos near 17 and we saw that there was. It could lead to 17, 19, etc. Maybe it’s 51? If it’s 17, i doubt the water has cleared yet.
Here’s an error i spotted, Jimmy said tbe code was four digits but the combos were all six.
Lucas purposely didn’t tell her that there were other Silos. He also didn’t tell Bernard what the full decoded message said.
It’s still not clear to me if Jimmy was the kid who we saw in episode 1. That episode made it look like the kid died. (Edit: Nevermind, that was the sheriff’s kid)
