This is a great move, Apple has great programs & is under appreciated, hopefully it brings more subscribers so they can make more great shows

If there’s commercials, I’ll pass

Guess we will have to wait & see but I’m guessing yes to commercials, but maybe people watching it will like it enough to subscribe not to deal with ads

I literally turned on my roku tv to the roku channel for the first time last week sometime. I really only used my tv for gaming.

I just happened to be drinking and wanted to watch something for the first time in a while. I picked this show to watch solely based on Adam Scott being in the promo image.

I ended up binging it all in one night, and thankfully on't have to wait for season 2 as long.

I think it’s very valid, but it’s also once again Apple admitting that they can’t make TV+ happen. And that’s kind of sad, because I really think Apple has the most interesting and consistent original programming in the last 2 years, but they just can’t promote the service and convince people to subscribe and watch the shows that are hidden there. They can’t even explain to people the difference between the “Apple TVs”. They can’t even have an Android app, even though Music does. At this point, you can start to understand why many media analysts think they’re going to pull the plug on their Hollywood venture. They’re in “desperation mode” right now and if anyone denies it, they’re not paying attention. They urgently need to shake things up. And fast. While Severance is airing.

That’s way too much drama just cause Apple is trying new marketing moves

I will never understand your constant need to spin doom and gloom. “Desperation mode” is laughable. We get it. They aren’t doing things you want them to do and it’s almost like you rather twist things that you have no knowledge of to give the impression that you are correct. You made such a big deal about the Foundation S3 pause in production. You made such a big deal about Brad Pitt and George Clooney comments during the press tour for Wolves to make it sound like they were pissed (Jon Watts clearly was but that’s separate.) You for years have been going on about lack of marketing and now they are doing some different things for marketing. This is all marketing with this Roku thing. I know you like Matt Belloni, did you listen to the episode with the Roku CEO from a few months back when he talks about streamers buying space on the Home Screen? They said Disney bought a space and searches for the movie Encanto went up “ten fold”. He also mentioned Apple has bought space on the home screen before with The Morning Show. I decided so many months ago to not be as involved with commenting in the sub but I can’t sit by and listen to this. We know the service has flaws and Apple chooses to not do things the traditional Hollywood way. If people want to believe you and agree with you they can. But I am going to majorly disagree with you here.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Every serious Hollywood insider has been arguing for months about how TV+ can’t seem to gain traction. This is based on fact, or at least serious evidence. Every media analyst’s prediction for 2025 says that Apple will shake things up with TV+, for better or worse. We’ll see. This isn’t a matter of opinion, honestly. And I don’t want anyone to agree with me. I’m just giving my opinion. There are far more mistakes than successes in the business, regardless of the quality of the content.

I hope it works out. My first observation is that it's a valid move. I root for Apple TV a lot more than you might think, but there's no arguing with the lack of viewership (which probably means few subscribers), the horrible marketing, and other basic mistakes. Even Peacock and Paramount+ had their moments.

Can you please provide sources for these “predictions” that every media analyst allegedly has? Seems like these predictions may only exist within your head…

Which analysts? They are debating the future of all of these services and preparing for consolidation in general. From what I read and hear they are counting on Apple to either stay the same or buy a studio. I don’t see anyone saying Apple will pull the plug on the service. I don’t think I see anyone “seriously arguing” about the traction of TV+ other than question their film strategy. Other than acknowledging Apple has the smallest share of viewership and Apple has more money than god to pump into the service I don’t hear anything else from insiders.

Regardless of the lack of views, according to Lucas Shaw’s Bloomberg survey of people in the industry, Apple is in top 3 of services people want to take their shows to along side Netflix and HBO. None of these analysts know anything about real numbers. Only Apple knows and they disagree with what Nielsen says are the numbers. The last 3 or 4 years all we keep hearing is Apple has what 25 million subscribers? That number never changes?? I find did it hard to believe that number would never change despite the fact that know they have the highest churn rate. That number doesn’t include the Apple one bundles either.

I don’t doubt that you root for Apple. You seem to give opinions as facts and that is dangerous. I don’t know if it’s your personality or maybe an ego thing from being a professor but the twisting of things to be doom and gloom when you don’t know Apples strategy as if they are a traditional studio really rubs me the wrong way.

They need to grow revenue and subscribers. This does both, with potential to pull in new subs directly to AppleTV+ since this is only one show.

Launching as a channel on Prime helps too—they earn revenue, and viewership from Android users.

Nothing wrong with exploring options outside of their walled garden.

I have no trouble watching Apple TV on my Google Chrome. I also watch it on my phone, just through the browser, I've never had an issue with it.

Well, you’re one of the very few people who both know there’s a web app available and bother to use it.

Because, to be perfectly honest, their web app sucks balls. And the stream quality is so much inferior to the native Apple TV app it’s ridiculous.

I said I used the browser and my Google Chrome, both look just as good as any other streaming services.

Hi I hope they don’t pull the plug. It’s my favorite service

Sometimes you have good points of view, but it’s laughable that you always see the negative side of everything.
