I saw a video of a lady on fire in the subway car and they were just waltzing right by her.

Tbh it was kinda scary how she just stood there. I can't imagine what she was thinking.

Tbf if I see a MF doing the same thing, in the same place, every day? I'm probably gonna end up moving along too

Irony is the person filming wasn't helping him either

u/TDKevin 4d ago
Person filming also isn't trained to help people or getting paid by the taxpayers to do exactly that.
Did they really need two cops to write a ticket?

Wasn't it confirmed by the supreme court repeatedly that cops have zero obligation to help the public?

There is no special interest correct, which if people actually read into the ruling it makes perfect sense.

Unpopular opinion: why would you spend your time on something that would do the same shit again in a few days? Just let it go.

u/WeNeedVices000 4d ago
The argument that the same thing will likely happen again a few days later isn't a good argument.
Just wondering where you extend that to? Just what appears to be drug related? How about mental health issues? Cancer - I mean why treat something that's going to kill someone anyways if they are terminal? Education - child is unlikely to achieve, why bother?
Just wondering where you draw the line or specifically where that attitude should be applied?
Also, how do you judge if this is a one time thing, or a consistent pattern? What happens when it's wrongly assessed and the persons have a stroke or absence seizure unrelated to drugs, but that's presumed and the approach you put forward is taken? Whose liable?

Counterpoint - you can say the same thing about writing someone a random bullshit ticket.
Main point - neither of those cops were doing anything useful, maybe their paychecks could be better spent on social safety nets and public health care.

The main reason I don’t speed more often is because I don’t want a ticket, and acting like people aren’t more cautious after getting tickets is laughable

Maybe it works for poors like you

Or it’s that when speeding actually gets fun I’ll just get my license revoked

Tell me you’ve never ridden public transit without telling me you’ve never ridden public transit.

If I called an ambulance every time I saw some dude drunk/sleeping in public the local emergency department would have to double its staff.

You mean in a slum or third world country. Just because this is the norm in what used to be developed countries, doesn't mean It's how It's supposed to be.
