The resentful insects went back in time and injected embryonic stem cells into our blastocysts.

These foul embryonic stem cells contained mutations that make it more likely for you to break a bone (e.g.: COL1A1 mutation resulting in brittle bones and poor collagen - osteogenesis imperfecta).

As development continues, an organism containing cells of the original blastocyst and injected cells is the result: a chimera.
