Wanted to build a Fek'Ihri Carrier Build and am wondering which traits / consoles really affect the Lost Souls cause the wiki lists almost all traits like SAD, but the pets dont have a traditional "weapon" attack.

Also it doesnt list Five Magicks, but dont they attack with Fire Damage?

1

u/WaldoTrek Retired the D'Kora for Golden Nagus Nov 11 '24

Five Magicks only buffs you not your pets. Traits like SAD are wasted on Lost Soul's as they don't have a compatible firing mode. Stick to things that boost direct pet damage and you should be ok.

Do you maybe know if its worth to exchange their blue version for the ultra rare one?

The testing I've seen says Elite do perform way better than normal. I run Elite on one of my carriers.

You can, but keep in mind the "4 piece set" cannot be completed without the T5 Dyson Destroyer from the Lobi store - which also has the final piece of the Solanae set.

The Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate keeps resetting the download. Internet is at a stable 50+Mbps/10ms ping and this is the first time this has happened. Any ideas, gang? :-)

What would be the easiest / most economical way to get the combat badgey pet?

5

u/WaldoTrek Retired the D'Kora for Golden Nagus Nov 09 '24

Buy it off the exchange.

1

u/solitaryman007 Nov 08 '24

OK I'm trying to get a ship xp but if I do the same space tfo twice it does not help whays with that

4

u/neuro1g Nov 09 '24

That's because, for whatever reason, TFOs don't really give much ship xp. Do patrols from the patrol tab, specifically patrols like Nineth Rule, Rescue and Search, Wanted, and Trouble Over Terrh.

What should be done with extra Fleet Credits? Let me explain. I have 1 main (Rom-Delta), 4 secondaries (one of each other Recruitment and 1 Disco). The other 5 I use as disposable accts for farming Recruitment Event goodies. I use disposable acct character-bound rewards to donate to fleets that I join but then I end up with extra Fleet Credit. What can I spend this fleet credit on to either benefit my Main or account?

Separate question: what besides Experimental ship token should I be farming from recruitment events?

3

u/shadowofthegrave Nov 08 '24

Sounds like you may want to be buying doffs from the fleet starbase with your spare fleet credits, which are fully transferable/sellable.

I just finished out of red alert ( level 65) now it is grayed out. does that mean I did not do enough damage?

Are there any solid DPS builds for the Legendary Miracle Worker Assault Cruiser on a Klingon Tac too?

6

u/Vulcorian Engineer and Cruiser Parity! Nov 07 '24 edited Nov 07 '24

Not every ship has a build for it ready made out there. If there are none specifically for the ship you're after on places like r/stobuilds, stobetter, YouTube, and the like, then use those places to find a build on a similar ship (in this case another 4/4 miracle worker ship like the Lexington) and tweak a build for that to fit the slightly different seating the Leg Sovereign has. The basic principles of how the ship works will be the same, you just might have to swap a console or a boff power here or there.

I have googled endless combinations to try and figure this out but to no avail. I just hit level 50, and got my first discovery spore canister in the reputation system. It tells me I can use it to buy items, or turn it in for dilithium. Great: except the game doesn't tell you how or where to turn it in. I've clicked through every menu, tried right clicking the canister, checked the convert ore option in assets, but nope - nothing. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

u/neuro1g Nov 07 '24

PS. You probably want to bookmark this page too, to help you in the future learning about certain game mechanics and whatnot:

u/Busy-Armadillo3857 Nov 07 '24

bookmarked, thank you!

2

u/neuro1g Nov 07 '24

You're welcome :)

3

u/neuro1g Nov 07 '24

That is a kind of currency used in the Reputation System.

https://stowiki.net/wiki/Reputation_System

Specifically the Discovery Reputation: https://stowiki.net/wiki/Reputation:_Discovery_Legends

For future reference bookmark this page for searching for in-game things you want to know about: https://stowiki.net/wiki/Main_Page

However, I'm not too sure how good your googlefu is. Just for the hell of it, I just googled "sto discovery spore canister" and the second return, after some reddit posts, was this one: https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/P.stellaviatori_Spore_Canister

Which is the old wiki (no longer updated), but still has all the relevant info you need. So in the future type "sto + whatever-the-hell-you-need-to-learn-about" into google to, at the very least, get the old wiki page on that thing, or just go to the new wiki's homepage and use its search bar. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks! What I was missing for the dilithium conversion was on this page: https://stowiki.net/wiki/Reputation_System You need to be T5 reputation - didn't see this in game, or on the fandom wiki (which i came across originally along with several forum threads). Appreciated!

What are the chances we'll have a Zen bonus event before Black Friday sales? (I mean the ones where you get 10% or 20% on top of Zen you buy.)

5

u/Vulcorian Engineer and Cruiser Parity! Nov 06 '24

Usually there is a zen charge bonus as part of the Black Friday sales.

2

u/Whiskyinthejaw Nov 06 '24

Temporal agent shared recruit rewards don't give certain marks.

Just unlocked the shared rewards on my Gamma recruit, but when opening the rewards from my temporal recruit ("...will grant you a CHOICE of Reputation Marks.") I can't choose Disco or Gamma marks. Is that how it's supposed to be? I could choose them from my Delta recruit. Unfortunately I was planning on focusing on Gamma Rep, with Disco as secondary, haha.

6

u/StarkeRealm Nov 06 '24

It's not 100% clear if it's intended, but IIRC, those boxes were never updated to include new marks as they were added to the game.

3

u/Whiskyinthejaw Nov 06 '24

Thanks, now I at least know why! Still a shame though, haha.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '24

Where as a Fed player can i go and not hear political' opinionated comments?

ESD is full of them everytime?

Where is the best chillout spot?

3

u/AdumbkidSto Nov 06 '24

Actually, any of the other federation star bases. I go there to get away from the crowds and chatter since I can't disable zone chat on PS

4

u/ModernStuffIsBad Nov 06 '24

A lot of people like DS9, services are close together and pretty much no 'toxic' chat to deal with.

5

u/WaldoTrek Retired the D'Kora for Golden Nagus Nov 06 '24 edited Nov 06 '24

It's always that way. Even in off years where this is not an election in sight. Everyone just turns off Zone Chat. You can do so in your settings. Otherwise just roll a KDF, always quiet on Qo'noS.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '24

Two questions for anyone who can answer

1) Is it worth raising all or any crafting skills to level 20?

2) Is there anything I should craft that I could sell or use?

5

u/westmetals Nov 05 '24 edited Nov 06 '24

Raising crafting skill beyond level 15 gives no new unlocks, it just slightly increases the success/crit chances on crafting projects.

There are quite a few craftable items that are useful and potentially sale-able... the special 360 beam weapons and particle plasma torpedoes for example (the torpedo is generally the #2 torpedo recommended for science/torpedo hybrid builds, because its secondary effect scales off science stats), also the Science and Engineering consoles and Isomags.

All of those (except Isomags) are however limited to one per ship, which sort of limits the market.

You can also make standard (loot-equivalent) copies of all the standard weapon types and styles.

(Note about the science and engineering consoles (Exotic Particle Field Exciter and Conductive RCS)... at ultra rare they gain a mod that mimics one standard science or engineering console... but notice that "or"... they share the same pool of mods... this can be used to "sneak" a science console in an engineering slot or vice versa.)

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '24

Thanks West, much appreciated.

3

u/westmetals Nov 06 '24

Welcome!

Also, forgot to mention: Exotic Particle Field Exciter is natively a combination of the craftable Shield Capacity and EPG consoles in one. Adding an EPG mod means it's +Shield Capacity and double +EPG all in one console slot. Upgraded to epic mk XV it's a whopping +78.8 EPG. (this is why EPFEs with that particular mod are insanely expensive.)

Does the Trait "Accept No Sacrifice" apply to the trait holder?

1

u/Vyzantinist Nov 05 '24
  1. Are any of the careers particularly the best, or meta, for a dedicated carrier build?

  2. Pet commands - for allies, do you need to constantly have a target lock on, say, something you want pets to escort?

  3. Do newly launched pets follow the same command given to previously deployed ones, like intercept or escort, or do you need to hit the button again for newly deployed pets?

  4. If targeted allies are destroyed or no longer valid targets for escort/intercept, do pets default to treating you as the target?

  5. Are there any additional rewards for non-recruit alts if you have multiple recruitment characters? e.g. if I make multiple Gamma Recruitment characters, will alts get multiple rewards or do they only count once per recruitment?

3

u/neuro1g Nov 05 '24 edited Nov 05 '24
  1. No.

  2. No.

  3. Yes, they do. No, you do not need to hit the button again.

  4. Yes.

  5. Already answered by westmetals.

Regarding the a carrier's hangar commands, let me save you some time. There is absolutely no reason to use anything other than the attack and recall commands. Pets should be on attack except when you need to move a long distance across a map, then you use recall as not to lose them. Recall also comes in handy when repositioning to attack certain foes, such as Voth or Vaadwaur, where you need to be on the other side of a feedback pulse shield or out of the way of a polaron barrage that you don't want your hangars to eat. Escorting other players or friendly NPC ships is not a thing.

4

u/westmetals Nov 05 '24

in reply to #5 - the rewards for non-recruit alts are one time unlocks. Multiple recruits from the same event doesn't benefit you in that way except for Delta, where the three different eligible factions do have different unlocks.

However some of the recruit-only rewards do have account wide effects (endeavour points or ship upgrade tokens).

u/duende667 Nov 04 '24

From a search on here most people said to go with attack pattern beta for DPS and omega for survivability but I'm just wondering what the best timing is for the auto activation? Should I just go for 'whenever possible' for each or delay one by 10 or 20 seconds?

Also: should I bother with attack pattern alpha at all and should I fit it in to the auto activation rotation? I'm running an alien character on fed escorts on console in case that's relevant.

1

u/westmetals Nov 04 '24

Alpha doesn't interact with the others, timing-wise.

1

u/duende667 Nov 04 '24

Cool, thanks. Should I stagger the timing of beta and omega?

2

u/westmetals Nov 04 '24

You would have to - Beta and Omega (and Delta also), are a set of related abilities. Related abilities usually place a short lockout period upon each other when activated (it's often half of their minimum recharge time).

Other examples: Beam Fire At Will/Overload, Cannon Rapid Fire/Scatter Volley, Torpedo Spread/High Yield, the various "Emergency Power to" skills, the various "Auxiliary Power to" skills.

1

u/duende667 Nov 04 '24

Ah I see, that's what I was wondering yeah. Great thanks a lot dude, I appreciate it.

1

u/tampered_mouse Nov 08 '24

stowiki.net also shows you lockouts for the various actions, e.g. Attack Pattern Beta has the already mentioned list of actions at 15 seconds lockout / "category cooldown", a base cooldown of 30 seconds and a minimum cooldown of 15 seconds itself.

If you take the link to Omega you will note that it has a minimum cooldown of 30 seconds, but the category cooldown is 15 seconds. Which means if you run Omega, after 15 seconds you can trigger Beta while Omega is still in cooldown itself. After another 15 seconds you can redo this whole cycle.

1

u/duende667 Nov 08 '24

Excellent, thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Should I use this to check my DPS? I remember from the old days something akin to this I've used, but not sure.

Thanks!

I have a level 65 KDF aligned Reman that I made my carrier captain, I also have at least one level 65 Klingon and one level 65 fed.  I’m not certain how to get SAD on this character, the wiki says the Klingon ship mastery unlock is retired but they’re still for sale on the exchange.  While the infinity lock box ship says it’s for fed only.  So before I waste an event lockbox or 350 million ec, I was wondering if anyone knew what I needed to do?

3

u/neuro1g Nov 04 '24

Superior Area Denial comes from this ship:

https://stowiki.net/wiki/Mirror_Engle_Strike_Wing_Escort

It is available through opening lockboxes (not recommended), on the exchange (your 350 mil ec sounds low, though perhaps you're on console), or the 12th Anniversary Terran Bundle.

If you have a level 65 true KDF faction toon (not a Romulan or Jem'Hadar), then you have cross faction flying unlocked and can fly fed ships on your KDF toon and can unlock SAD.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '24

Why doesnt my bridge have a readyroom/briefing room?

4

u/neuro1g Nov 04 '24

Depends on the ship and bridge. Not all of them do. If you're on console, most bridges don't have the extra spaces (like crew and engineering decks) that PC players do. Ship interiors are a leftover bit from the early days of the game's development and were abandoned early on in its life.

1

u/CoachHubbyDad Nov 04 '24

Returning player from...a long time ago. Picked up my main, put him in a T6, flew out to do an existing mission (level 50) and in the New Romulan mission series, in the warehouse, I'm getting smacked. I updated my skills and traits, but still my crew and I still get snuffed in a few seconds.

Aside from my poor gaming skills, could it be an issue with the gear I had before I left?

0

u/tampered_mouse Nov 08 '24

Maybe a bit late, but the last part of that mission in the warehouse is nasty, even if you know what to expect. Unless you have "broken" type of ground gear (as in things evaporate on a button press), without healing chances are good you will get flatlined somewhere. The warehouse is filled with a good few groups of enemies where it is easy to pull aggro from multiple of them at the same time. Note that it is not needed to clean house there beyond what the mission really requires.

2

u/Aken01 Nov 04 '24

Could be your gear of your skill points or both. Depending on how long you’ve been out the game. Try this https://www.stobetter.com/ground-builds

4

u/neuro1g Nov 04 '24

Aside from my poor gaming skills, could it be an issue with the gear I had before I left?

Yes, probably. STO does nothing to teach players how to build, for either space or ground, so it's no wonder you're getting your ass handed to you. Lucky for you, there's this great website, www.stobetter.com, that can get you up to speed. Specifically for ground:

https://www.stobetter.com/new-f2p/ground-dps-basics

1

u/jeremycb29 Nov 04 '24

Is there a list of all ships with second deflectors. I’m wanting to make a science torpedo ship but unsure ship options.

6

u/Fleffle @vanderben Nov 04 '24

These two only have T6 ships, but they have a ton of filtering options including secdef. They're also both kept up to date.

5

u/StarkeRealm Nov 04 '24

There's also this database: ships.stonewallfleet.com

Ships need to be added to it manually, so it tends to miss some of the newest stuff. For example, the Lamarr and Premonition haven't been added yet, but otherwise, it's an extremely useful resource.

5

u/prof_the_doom Nov 04 '24

https://stowiki.net/wiki/Science_Vessel

This is probably as close as you'll get.

4

u/Fleffle @vanderben Nov 04 '24

That page, plus https://stowiki.net/wiki/Science_Destroyer and https://stowiki.net/wiki/Scout_Ship which are relegated to pages of their own.

If 2 and 2 is 5 and 9 by 13 is 130 what is the sum of Romulan Ale on DS9?
