I do think that twitter account is actually a master troll. No way someone says with a straight face that the Earth is flat but Mars has been observed to be round. I'm a flat-Earther-round-Marser denier.

I know you are making joke, but the circular effect here is just from the lens. This camera is only used for rover navigation. The HD cameras were not online yet.
