You laugh about this but a mile away from my parents house they are unironically trying to put in a roundabout on the most geologically unforgiving hill.

Yes. If only there was a way to make a roundabout that did not have a vertical 12 foot wall at the entrance to it. Alas, we haven't figured out how

People need to learn to drive. A 12 foot vertical is nothing if you properly maintain your vehicle! Bunch a whiners if you ask me.

No, we fear roundabouts because most of us are not prepared to deal with supermaneuverable air-defense fighter aircraft loitering above.
