Omg I thought it was fake at first!

u/Sensitive_Brick6451 2d ago
so did I, the fish is so pretty and the water is so clean for such a small tank

u/RufusDogSol 1d ago
Are you sure it’s not? Looks like it could be AI.
8
u/Sensitive_Brick6451 1d ago
pretty sure as the account shows many videos consistently for over a year, i’m not like an expert in ai tho i just personally believe that it’s real :)

u/Dragons_in_the_Marsh 2d ago
Same here- it's crazy that the owner looks at this and thinks it's okay!
6
u/IdidnotFuckaCat 2d ago
It looks like there is a much larger tank next to them. Hopefully it's temporary while they clean the tank.

u/Dragons_in_the_Marsh 2d ago
That was my second thought but op said elsewhere that according to the account it's been there since 2023 :(

Is that a holding cell for it?? I see a much bigger tank right next to it
58
u/Sensitive_Brick6451 2d ago
From looking through the account the fish has been in that tank since the end of 2023

u/dancinturnip 2d ago
Noooooo 😩 I wanted to believe that wouldn’t be the case
21
u/Sensitive_Brick6451 2d ago
that’s why i checked the account expecting to see other fish and big ponds 🫠

Shouldn't holding cells still be a bit bigger? I know practically nothing about fishkeeping
17
u/dancinturnip 3d ago
Yeah it should. I’m sure that tank is stressing the goldfish out. That being said who knows if they just put it there for a photo and put it back in the tank. We don’t have all the context on this one I feel

u/Davidsworkshop 3d ago
Spent all that money on nice hardware, a heater, a canister filter, thermometer. I wonder what happened there.

How can people decide to put this in their room and think it’s nice to look at? Does it really not click with them that this isn’t ok?
Here’s to hoping it’s indeed a holding tank.

u/LennyClarke05 2d ago
What the hell? This is so absurd it looks like AI. Just get a glass box and put a fake fish in there at that point, it’s not like you can enjoy it swimming in something so small
6
u/houseofprimetofu 2d ago
I really don’t get your leap to AI here. It looks like a kids bedroom with a tank.
2
u/TroubleMaeker 2d ago
I honestly wondered if it was not AI too at first. The tank is extremely clean with an incredibly pretty fish in tank way to small. It makes no sense.

He heard the fish would only grow to the size of its tank so he is hoping for a cubic fish, :)

To answer the questions about it being a hospital/quarantine tank, from looking on the account it is there only fish and has been in that tank since there first post in october of 2023. It seems like it’s for the owners kids 🤷♀️

u/therealslim80 2d ago
seriously?? they get such a cool tank and this is the shit they do with it? meanwhile, im trying to aquascape my 10 gal breeder😭

If this is real, I will never understand why people do this. That looks like an expensive fish. Couple of live plants and 2-3 female gups would look so much nicer in this tank than whatever is going on here and cost worlds less than this fish did.

That would be a beautiful shrimp tank why the gigantic fish that can’t even swim around😭 I’ll never understand why people willfully choose this but whatever tickles their fancy I guess

Based on the setup and the terrarium next to it, I’d bet my money that this is just a hospital tank. Still not ideal- but it could be they didn’t have anything else to hold the goldfish in while it heals or adjusts.
A carp that big isn’t young, nor cheap, so whoever owns it likely knows what they’re doing - again, especially judging by the lily pipes/equipment on that tank.

u/Sensitive_Brick6451 2d ago
I’ve done another comment that’s more detailed but the fish has been in the tank for more than a year. You totally could be right but i can’t think of why it would need to be there for that long
9
u/sparkpaw 2d ago
WELL if it’s been a year then yeah, I don’t think the owner has much excuse for not investing in a bigger hospital tank.
Still, if it’s been in there for a year… I mean on one hand clearly they know what they’re doing because it is still alive - but also it could be fucking stunted and not able to get full growth. Even shubunkin’s have varied sizes.
Now I hate this tank lmao. Thanks for the context.

What kind of fish is that? Is it a comet goldfish with very long fins or a koi? It's so pretty, poor thing deserves better 😭

My history/economics teacher in high school kept her beta fish in one of those containers the store gives you to take the fish home until you can set up the tank. I told her it’s bad for the fish and she basically didn’t care. Fish may not be super smart but they aren’t decorations!

Wow I might have to back out of this subreddit it tugs at my heart so much. What is with people!? I don’t have fish myself. I find them so beautiful and can’t understand why someone would want to put a precious creature in such awful conditions. I’d be the person with a Betta fish in a 20 gallon tank. 🤣

Others mentioned the large tank just off screen, so I'm assuming this is either a sick/treatment tank (maybe for salt baths?) Or it's some form of temp cube. Nobody gonna go through the effort of Specialty faucets and pumps that go directly to the cube if they don't know the proper gallons per fish. Especially with such a huge fancy goldy

u/Sensitive_Brick6451 1d ago
It’s a terrarium for growing plants and mosses next to it and the fish has been in this tank since 2023 and the account, which posts frequently, shows no other fish tanks or ponds :)
2
u/Tedfloof 23h ago
So strange to have that giant terrarium, do they have pets in or just mosses. Imagine providing a better for some moss over that beautiful fish.

This is very likely a "show" tank for photographs of the fish. There looks to be a large aquarium to the right of the fish.
1
u/Sensitive_Brick6451 1d ago
it’s a terrarium next to the fish and it’s only shown in this tank with no other fish or tanks/ponds on the account which posts frequently :)

i think this is temporary- there’s a huge tank on the right side of the photo. i can’t tell if it’s a fish tank or not but given the size of the other tank their husbandry is probably pretty good plus the fish doesn’t look unhealthy :>
2
u/Sensitive_Brick6451 2d ago
It’s a terrarium next to it for various plants and mosses. From looking at the account the fish has been in this tank for a while, but it could still be some kind of quarantine i just can’t think of something that will take more than a year and they don’t post other tanks or fish 🤷♀️

u/Altruistic-Poem-5617 2d ago
They just put it in and it will jump out in the next hours. Edit: just noticing the big tank on the right. Lets hope that is its actual tank and they just put it in the small one for a pic to show it off.

Do you people all think this is real? Are you all real??

It is real, there’s many videos of this fish and it being fed and interacting with people :)

Praying this is just a temporary holding tank because what in the animal crossing is this?? Wtf.
Poor fish if this is their permanent home.
