These are not release notes. What actually changed?

Guess they can't serve ad impressions to people with different needs.

Can we get a homepage that actually changes? Or are we stuck with seeing the same posts for 16-24 hours at a time without enabling y'all's already garbage algorithms? It's kinda embarassing especially when Apollo, Sync, RiF and all did that so much better than a faceless corporation with what seems like endless funding and "experienced" teams of developers.

Better filtering would be welcomed. Yes.

I clicked on the link to see the release notes for Android.

What's new Thanks for updating the Reddit app! We've updated our Android app with bug fixes and changes to improve your overall experience.

This is NOT a proper release note. What bugs were fixed? What changes were made to "improve [my] overall experience"?

While you’re fixing bugs, could you fix the bug where the app ignores my previous notifications settings when I update and/or spamming me with “WhY DoNt YoU TuRn On NoTiFiCaTiOnS!?!”?

I know that’s probably a harder bug to figure out but it would be nice!

Sounds like a remarkably simple bug to figure out. Source: 40+ years in SW development.

Seems an easy to fix bug if it weren’t so obviously a feature right?

Actually on testing, the app reverts all my notification settings every few days whether I update or not.

You still haven't restored the "accidentally removed" ability to hide posts on Android after stating for two weeks running that it would be rolled out "next week".

You have however rolled out some new bugs, as well as further degradation of the user experience.

Do you even have a test organization, other than your user base?

How is this actually release notes? There are literally no details.

8

u/smeldridge Aug 03 '23

Could we get some more functional UI? This app is huge step backwards compared to its competitors.

4

u/IAmAGenusAMA Aug 05 '23

Why do you think they wanted to get rid of their competitors?

What a contrast this subreddit is compared to the subs for 3rd party apps like Apollo when a new release came out. So much hostility here.

3

u/LTS55 Aug 08 '23

the only thing they want is to funnel people to advertisements and paying for Reddit premium or whatever. They do not care about the user experience at all, as long as it makes them money.

newest design is utterly worthless please get a grip

5

u/youlaughatme Aug 03 '23

Battery? Last news was it was actively being worked on.

6

u/pathfindmyBAP Aug 04 '23

STILL CAN'T HIDE POSTS

4

u/TeaFungus Aug 04 '23

I've got a battery drain issue. I have background refresh and notifications turned off and a focus mode for the night which turns on the power saver. I left reddit open over night and the battery was drained by reddit. 100% in the background for 10h.

Im on iOS 16.6 (20G75) Appversion 2023.30.0

Fix audio lowering while listening to music while browsing reddit. Been bugged almost a month now

u/armcie Aug 03 '23

On Android I can no longer swipe between posts in the home/popular/new feeds. You're just making this app harder to use. I can still swipe if I'm inside a sub.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '23

How do I change the font size? No longer showing in the settings option.

2

u/pathfindmyBAP Aug 04 '23

I've never even seen that setting option

1

u/ZaryaBubbler iOS 17 Aug 06 '23

It is there, I have mine set to "melon" but then again I'm on iPad

2

u/UGMadness Aug 07 '23

It seems to be an iOS only feature.

1

u/ZaryaBubbler iOS 17 Aug 07 '23

Wow, amazing. Great job by Reddit!

2

u/JaneDundas Aug 03 '23

No longer able to follow threads (MLB games) live. Constantly have to manually refresh. Very annoying.

2

u/MyrrhSeiko Aug 04 '23

Can no longer long press on the home feed for a context menu. Which is.. disappointing.

2

u/technomaster_45 Aug 05 '23

I after updating my app for r/place I can’t vote on posts anymore on the homepage. I have to open up the post to do that which gets annoying after a while

1

u/buckeyefan1930 Aug 04 '23

Please bring back the sort by live option for the comments

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '23

Can't swipe between posts. Comments bunched up and unclear who you are upvoting because you've moved them to the top of the comment. Neither flows for the end user. Worst update ever.

1

u/hatdeity Aug 05 '23

I would sure like to swipe through posts on reddit since that's the main attraction to using this site/app.

I love not being able to hide posts, having to click each individual post instead of swiping, and upvoting the wrong comment because the arrows are poorly placed.

Now I can’t see the mod tools on iOS. This app is really bad

1

u/OkUnderstanding4707 Aug 06 '23

Hello all I'm new at this took hrs to put pic up

1

u/ZaryaBubbler iOS 17 Aug 06 '23

Oh look, leaving the app and coming back still makes my app reset to the top. You did absolutely nothing! Wonderful!

1

u/1Gallivan Aug 08 '23

I can’t sort in my subreddits now.. anyone else having this issue?

1

u/mrsurferdude Aug 08 '23

same on multiple phones. Had to be a custom feed for each subreddit to be able to sort them...

1

u/Beast0011 Aug 08 '23

A lot of people are unable to hide posts!

1

u/ShuckU Aug 09 '23

How do I put captions on image posts?

We know that Reddit Awards will be gone by next month by why are awards already not showing on Android? This started last week.
