Why does this app drain my battery so bad? I can see it draining in real time! It's ridiculous. God, I miss Apollo.

Can’t believe they forced this useless pos app on us. On the bright side, I’m using reddit a lot less, but it’s tough to break a 14 year habit.

Turn off autoplay.

It is turned off. Animations turned off. Background usage...all off and it just absolutely draind battery. And it crashes. A lot. Horrible app

How do I stop the screenshot notification from popping up. Terribly annoying…

Hey! How that prompt works was changed after reviewing user feedback in the subreddit. Now, the more you dismiss the "share instead" prompt, the less likely you'll see it again.

Glad you guys are listening to the feedback. Hope people are working on the battery draining.
Personally I’m hoping for a “hide posts you’ve scrolled past” option to avoid duplicate content (95% of the app right now).

why tf are you resetting my notifications settings with each update? are you really completely just a bunch of incompetent hacks?
6
u/guyincognito___ Jul 21 '23
No, they just want to coerce you into engagement at any cost irrespective of enjoyment or user experience. Big facebook energy.

u/SuspiciouslyGenuine Jul 20 '23
It's been months with the issue of posts taking MINUTES to open at times. That should be top priority.

I would love to see some improvements regarding battery draining on iPhone 13. I turned off all of the switches.

Any way to turn off community recommendations?
I would like to be notified of zero other communities. I curate my own Reddit experience, and in the event i need assistance, I'll be sure to ask.

Can you tell me why EVERYTHING still autoplays when I click a video post comment section? It plays when I open it, plays after I un maximize the comments section, plays again when I press back.
I said DONT autoplay and yet here we are.

u/IAmAGenusAMA Jul 24 '23
You chose Autoplay Never when you were supposed to select Autoplay Absolutely Never (I Really Mean It).
Seriously though, I have given up on this setting ever working properly. Such a terrible app.

How is this app missing so many features? The upvote/downvote system is a pain to use compared to apps like Apollo. Would it kill the devs to implement some features from these now defunct apps like gesture based upvotes? Or a good video player?
3
u/IAmAGenusAMA Jul 24 '23
God how I miss being able to swipe to vote.
3
u/SasquatchButterpants Jul 24 '23
The upvote button on the official app is at best hard to hit, half the time I collapse the comment!

Comment box fix? iPad text size fix?
2
u/melsikorski Jul 22 '23
The text is so small as to be completely unusable. Why are the accessibility features like font size just…gone?

u/Katie0690 iOS 16 Jul 22 '23
It’s complete BS. The text size is completely fine on my phone, and the comment box doesn’t dissapear on my iPad. Wtf

u/alamedaeditor Jul 24 '23
Yes, please bring back the font size adjustment. I like my font to be larger on my phone for Reddit . But now I have to do a global change on iOS and now my phone looks stupid with big fonts. It’s a bad user experience having to change it all the time.

Why is the avatar on the other side??? why can’t I swipe to next post??? why is there no search bar??? why is the subreddit main page different???

For all that is holy, can you stop spamming me with "verify your email account" every time I open the app?
After the 1000th times I refused to do it, perhaps take the hint? At the very least give me an option to never be bothered about this ever again

I don’t mind the iOS version, then again I’m nearly blind so I can’t fully see how much of garbage the app truly is.

Hello. I was on 3.22.0-227928 and was forced to "upgrade" to the new app, as the old one won't let me log in anymore. My feedback is: 1. Username is no longer displayed alongside the post. I have to open the post to see the username which makes scrolling a bit tedious. 2. If the post is somehow NSFW or the user posts NSFW content, now I have to open the post, tap on the user, tap on View Profile then tap on "View NSFW content". I find it difficult to see this an improvement over the old version where taping on the username takes you straight to their profile. It's a bit like the "new" menu in windows 11 where instead of right-clicking and seeing the options, you have to right-click, click more options and then you can see the options you need. 3. What does the "View NSFW content" button do in Settings if I still get the above message related to NSFW content? My 2 cents. Hope it helps future development. Cheers!

Why does this sub even exist? Y’all don’t listen to anything anyone says on here. Just keep pumping out updates no one wants. Bloated, unintuitive app.

Did they get rid of the searching of searching for comments in a subreddit?

Android 2023.28.0
Using "Classic" as the default view, I was always able to open an image from a thread directly from the feed, by tapping on the thumbnail. Now, it will open the whole thread which is very annoying. This doesn't happen for videos. Is this a bug or intended?

I got a notification saying that i needed to reset my password because my account was locked. I reset my password but the app made me create a new account. Now i can’t seem to log into my original account even after resetting again. What’s the deal with this?

hi, i hate this new update
i love trying to scroll but the new galleries are too sensitive so it thinks i'm scrolling sideways. i love every image being rounded NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE ROUNDED IN UI. i love that the font for post titles is now too small. i don't care about communities. the fact you're placing place so front and centre means you're definitely trying to hide the detriments the site is facing currently. you want to know the best part? all this feedback was generated in just 15 seconds of using this update! the only thing you do right with this app is make it easy to criticise it
that is all

u/RoseLizenberg Android 13 Jul 24 '23
Why does the layout on this new version look like a readme.txt file from 1993? This is absolutely bizarre.
1
u/Neo465 Jul 24 '23
When will the new chat structure be finished? I’m sick of the iOS side of things not being fixed, also why are chats disappearing?
1
u/heysoundude Jul 24 '23
Maybe you can explain why I can’t use the big back arrow in the upper left corner of my iPhone sometimes? It’s been going on for a few versions so far. I miss my Apollo’s and am gaining increasing appreciation for Lemmy the longer it doesn’t get fixed. Will I make it to my 10th cake day? Not if they don’t fix this.

Android 2023.28.0
i love not being able to hide posts that i don't want to see and every thread i try to open takes minutes (which isn't an issue on desktop or with wifi). can you fix the optimization please?

u/_procyon Jul 20 '23
Why did you take away the option to hide posts???? I used that all the time.
If I find a community I’m interested in, I like to scroll through top posts of month/year/all. And hide posts as I read them, so if I want to read more old posts later, I know which ones I’ve read so there’s less to scroll through.
It’s like you’re actually trying to drive users away by taking away everything that makes Reddit usable bit by bit. I hope Zuck comes up with a Reddit alternative like he did with threads. He can steal my data, it’s not like Reddit isn’t stealing it too.
