Just ask your damn question
For folks who like to IM their co-workers with “hi” without including the reason why you’re pinging, please stop it and learn how to include your ask within the same message. I’m more likely to ignore you if you just ping me one-worded greetings. Ain’t nobody got time to chit chat with you like that.

Can we also not do the surprise call? It's simple - short message, a bit of the topic, and is it a good time to talk. My old boss would internationally surprise call me a bit before 9 am and a little after 6pm. And, while we're on the subject, why are you sending me a message at 6:30 am? I'm offline. Surely it can wait. I hate IM/Teams. I remember my manager in 2001 avoided it like the plague, "it's another leash." That man was smart.

This was my biggest pet peeve when I was working. Just include the ask in the first ping/IM.
It also infuriated me when someone would type "Hi" and then nothing for several minutes. Thanks for interrupting my flow dumbfuck.
