Fermenting in only 2 hours???

So I started making my hooch and I put around 2.5 tsp of Baker yeast in 1L of water and apricot and only after 2 hours it started fermenting , Is this normal or am I mistaken for something else?

Yeah, it can happen. It just means things worked out nicely for the yeast.

I'm sure this happens to some people on their first try, then their next takes 48 hours to get going properly and they're "Oh God What Has Gone Wrong?!"

It probably helped that you went in a bit heavy with the yeast.

1L you could get away with ½ tsp probably. More doesn't hurt, it just means you need to buy more sooner.

Will the extra yeast have any negative effect?

Shouldn't do. The first thing your yeast does is go "mmm, food, time to make more yeast".

Yea I will probably use less next time. Thanks for the help I'm quite nervous about this considering it's my first ever batch so I hope it's good.

My personal record: I fermented 5 gallons of Rum Wash (1 gallon of Blackstrap molasses plus 4 gallons water) in 36 hours and I was dumbfounded. Normally takes me a week.

I can only imagine yours being done in 2 hours would be baffling.

Not DONE in two hours. Visible fermentation started after two hours.

Ohhhhh. Ok. That makes more sense now. I was getting ready to ask you to preserve the fruit and yeast for scientific study.

Happy yeast started their feast. My fastest started under 1 hour and i was like "is this magic", but some wise guy on internet told me that yeast can't read and they have parties on their own way. Be happy in a month you have something drinkable xD
