How’s their produce ?

Hit or miss. Berries were looking good tho and only 1.99 each. Always get the mini cucumbers and salad kits there. Mini cucs we're only 1.32 this week!

Which salad kits do you like? I’ve never liked the ones there

I always get the southwest one. That's the only one I like and even sometimes I'm like meh. But that goes for ALL salad kits these days. So much cabbage! And kind of pricey when you think about what you actually get. But it is convenient! And that counts for something!

The Kale mix is so good too. Can’t go wrong with Caesar or Bacon Ranch Avocado.

I think of it as paying my adhd tax. Is it worth the money? No, probably not. But it’s already in a bag ready to go. If I buy the ingredients separately it works out more expensive and a waste because I forget to prep them or can’t find the motivation. Adhd tax. For the convenience, because unfortunately that’s just the way it is.

Mediterranean salad mix at Costco and the version of the same that Trader Joe's has are lettuce based, instead of cabbage. I like cabbage, but it's a lot sometimes. The TJ's Mediterranean salad has romaine with shredded broccoli stems, and every once in a while, I get a wonky bag that's mostly broccoli, but still good. 😂

I always mix one salad kit with chopped kale to stretch it. Bonus points if you have a good processor. Just fill it to the brim, hit chop a few times, then mix everything in a large bowl.

My go-to lunch is their Asian chop salad with a packet of their Sweet Thai tuna packets (the one with the maroon label top). You’d think I’d grow tired of it… I eat it maybe 3-4x a week but I haven’t yet!

Asian salad on a tortilla with some popcorn shrimp. Drizzle some hoisin sauce on. Trust me!

Our Aldi just got the Cobb salad. It’s my favorite (because of chopped boiled eggs) next to the Southwest one.

Those are prices that actually make sense. That's great to hear.

Ask an employee at your local Aldi what day they typically restock. They claim to restock daily, but the one I frequent actually restocks most produce on Wednesday, so that's by far the best day to get the good stuff.

23

u/abbyabsinthe Jun 05 '22

No, we get produce in everyday. Wednesday might be different because certain divisions get in a shit ton of ad item produce so supplies last longer, but each store gets like 3-8 pallets of produce everyday depending on the store's sales, and regional availability.

Mine restocks on Wednesdays, too. I get an email each Wed. morning for food/produce sales and Aldi Finds.

3

u/BlakeCarConstruction Jun 06 '22

This is our ALDI Finds. We do restock everyday, I woke up at 4:30 every morning to restock, so yes. We do restock.

Wednesdays are a new release of things going on sale + new limited items called ALDI finds. This usually includes other normally stocked items going on sale. We typically just receive a larger shipment of said item while the said sale lasts.

Saying that, we get everything, I mean everything, every single day.

MDU, produce, cooler, freezer, dry produce, normal produce, dry grocery, bread, etc.

The only exceptions are eggs and milk. Those we get in mass shipments 2-3 times a week

I open the Aldi email first thing every Wednesday morning to check out the Aldi Finds. It also shows the Finds that will be available the following week. I go there every Wednesday morning. Their bread is the best! And please tell Mr. Aldi to stock more of their Serra jeggings…I live in those things! Also ask him to have German week every week. Thanks! 😁

YEEESSSSSS to German week!

1

u/BlakeCarConstruction Jul 17 '22

Oh man I wish we had German week every week…. My store only had it twice a year, November and September. Every once in a while we’d get a surprise thing or two.

My store has those leggings quite a lot over the year. Usually Fall-Spring we have them plentiful.

I didn't work at Aldi, but I worked at another chain grocery store.

Only day we didn't get grocery trucks was Friday, and that was only true for grocery because we got ice cream, milk, and produce on Fridays.

Every day of the week, dudes were throwing 10, 12, 15 pallets of dry grocery, 5 pallets of dairy, 8 pallets of produce, 6 pallets of meat, 5 pallets of frozen. 20+ vendors doing their own shit like all the beer, wine, coke, frito-lays.

Go 2 days without a restock and people start getting crazy (see the first weeks of covid).

I think it depends on location, the produce is always primo at the one by me.

3

u/_Sweater_Puppies_ Jun 06 '22

Keep it all in the fridge! Same with bread

2

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '22

Produce is good if you go in to buy it. But don't order produce on their pick up system, they will give you the shittiest produce you've ever seen.

u/Archgaull Jun 06 '22

I got blueberries 1.99 for a pint that were excellent considering the next cheapest alternative is Publix 4.99 for half a pint that are absolutely tasteless and the die they use to make them bluer stains everything that comes near it

Typically some of the worst from any major grocery chain. But like other posters said, there is a method to get better produce.

I personally only go to aldi for packaged food, dairy, and frozen stuff.
