Impressive. Just got my dad the leatherman bond. I like how light it is. Sucks I gotta buy him a clip for it. He’s a low maintenance kinda guy and carried a skeletool around for a few years so I thought I’d give him a new one to rotate.

I myself own the P2 and an original Wave. I carry the wave the most because I like how easy it flicks open, the knife opens easier than the P2 and I use the micro Philips/flathead a lot. The P2 is nice but it’s tools never really impressed me.

  1. How do you typically carry your multi tool?
  2. Which tool gets carried the most and why?

I typically only carry ones that have a pocket clip, I think leatherman should have it on all of them and let people remove it if they don’t want it there.

The one that gets carried the most is my P2, I love the mechanics of it, the magnetic closing, how it snaps open. I also have two of them because I bought myself one and then I was gifted another one so if I beat the one up I don’t care because there’s a nice one for my collection.

I like how the P2 secretly makes a great hammer but I feel the company didn’t want to openly market that you can use it to beat the hell out of something lol

3

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

You talking about the flat area at the top of it when the tool is completely closed?

3

u/Verdle Dec 27 '22

Yeah!

3

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

That hurts my soul thinking about slamming my p2 into something

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

At the same time though, it’s what they’re meant for.

2

u/Verdle Dec 27 '22

Hey you said yourself you like to beat up the spare one! Personally, I beat the ever loving shit out of my multi tool. I carry a good knife for clean cuts and will stab beer cans with the wave. I’ve carried the wave for over 5 years before I got the P2 and I’ve beaten tons of things into play or drove nails in a pinch. I was real pleased with the hammer spot on the P2. That made me happy to see the designers were actually carrying their tool. Only a seasoned vet would know how useful a good flat spot would be as opposed to the rounded ends of the wave when it came to driving a tack. Hell you can’t break the damn thing and any nick or scratch just adds character.

I heared a lot of good things about the P2.

Sadly the price tag is too much for me...

3

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

Have you looked into getting one of eBay, I don’t know why there’s so many being sold new but they claim a lot of them haven’t been used and the sell for around 60-80 buck usually.

u/FibiMio Dec 27 '22

Great collection, you are only missing Victorinox Spirit MX

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

I want to get a victorinox, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I only hear great things about them.

2

u/FibiMio Dec 27 '22

IMO the best finish and precission you can get on a multitool.

3

u/NearlySilentObserver Dec 27 '22

It’s a slippery slope

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

For sure, I want them all lol.

4

u/krookedrooster Dec 27 '22

My favorite to use personally are any size Gerber slides like the ones on the bottom row. I've got 3 in different sizes and I find them to be the most comfortable and user friendly

3

u/grrttlc2 Dec 27 '22

Starting to look pretty comprehensive. Might I suggest a Signal?

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

The signal is definitely towards the top of my list to get, I’m struggling to decide between a curl, surge or signal to get as my next one. I’m been procrastinating on getting one of these though because I’ve been buying nice looking retire models off eBay while they’re still somewhat common. I’m so mad that I didn’t get my hands on a dark side or Mr crunch.

2

u/grrttlc2 Dec 27 '22

Ah didn't notice the Surge was missing too!

If your just interested in something a little different, the Signal is neat for that purpose.

Wise choice waiting for the deals. I am a dumbass and buy everything new, for the most part.

Hopefully the price will creep down on some of the garage exclusives as scalpers realize they won't sell? Idk.

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

Yeah the surge is missing

I also have a couple at leatherman for warranty repair and I two taken apart right now that I’m cleaning so missing from the picture is… the original supertool, my wingman, sidekick, pulse.

The garage ones are crazy I saw a Mr crunch on eBay he wanted 2 grand for it. I love collecting them but not that much.

2

u/grrttlc2 Dec 27 '22

Yeh Darkside is up around $800 as well. I'd love to own one but probably never unless I get really lucky. Lol

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

I don’t have that great of an urge to own one it’s just the wave with a different material/color.

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

Mr.crunch on the other hand, very interested!

2

u/grrttlc2 Dec 27 '22

Maybe we will get a production version? Here's hoping

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

I would love to see at the very least a p2 with the double sided screw drivers like the wave.

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

I think that signal is quite unique in the tool set it has which is definite something that I cherish in my collection which is the diverse functions multitools can have.

2

u/Salt-Possibility5693 Dec 27 '22

I agonised when ver which tool to get for work, as I wanted something light, compete for the tools I actually use and looks cool. I really wanted the MUK, but it was too heavy, too expensive and had tools I would never use as an engineer. I use my signal so many times per day, the only thing I will change is the fire tool and whistle will be swapped out for another bit holder to hold a 4mm/5mm Allen combo..

3

u/WeekSecret3391 Dec 27 '22

I'm not sure that's how you write addiction lol

Seriously, what's your favorite one?

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

Favorite one…hmmm a lot of good options, I have to give it to my P2.

2

u/Ok-Butterscotch3843 Dec 27 '22

I’ve been thinking about buying a sog

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

They’re great multitools, I’ve never had a problem with mine but I’ve heard of some QC problems.

2

u/CertainCat873 Dec 27 '22

This is amazing, but my wife would kill me!

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

They key is to not tell people about when you buy one. “Oh that one!? I’ve aways had that one”.

2

u/CertainCat873 Dec 27 '22

Haha I‘ve got to try this next time I order a Multitool!

Now start collecting swiss army knives.

JK lol, great collection! What's the black and silver tool in the middle of the 3rd row (started counting from the top) with what seems like a cogwheel in the middle? It's near the SOG multitool (I think the SOG Powerpint?)

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

That is a SOG SwitchPlier, It’s an awesome one, you press a button and it springs open ready for use. Unfortunately they no long make it so it’s a pretty hard find.

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

And I have a couple SAK’s but I haven’t gotten into them yet.

2

u/Saifullah-14 Dec 27 '22

Your bank account cries every night

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

It’s okay, sometimes I pick up extra shifts just to make it feel better

1

u/ElMachoGrande Dec 27 '22

It's not spelled "collection", it's spelled "addiction". But it's a nice addiction you have.

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 27 '22

When I post an update on my collection in a year or two I make sure to post the right title. Lol

1

u/Consistent_Pepper144 Dec 28 '22

That's pretty cool. I just bought a B/Bury multi-tool. This thing is very well built. It didn't cost an arm and a leg and it's putting all my other multi tools to shame. I highly recommend buying one.

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 28 '22

As long as they’re high quality that is

1

u/Consistent_Pepper144 Dec 28 '22

In my humble opinion. My B/Bury is very high quality. It's made from tempered 3Cr13 stainless steel. The sheath is very good. Look it up. I think that it's underpriced.

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 28 '22

Yeah I saw, 20 buck, the cheapest leatherman I ever bought was a 30 dollar used side kick. I think I’ll give them a try! Thankyou!

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 28 '22

I’ll definitely look into them always open to trying new brands

1

u/Consistent_Pepper144 Dec 28 '22

Leatherman multi tools,of which I have several, are overpriced and underbuilt. I'll stick with my new B/Bury. All my other multi tool's are now " resting" in my sock drawer.

1

u/Ciderlini Jan 04 '23

Nothing like shelving a high quality multi tool for some Chinese made garbage

1

u/RealBigHummus Dec 29 '22

Topmost row, left to the Leatherman Sidekick and Wingman, what is that tool? The pliers there look weird

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 29 '22

Your either talking about the wave plus on the left of them or your talking about the sog paratool on the right of them.

1

u/RealBigHummus Dec 29 '22

paratool

About that. How do the pliers feel in the hand? Do they bend while you work with them?

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Dec 29 '22

Aside from the fact that’s it’s a retired model, I don’t recommend it. Because of how it unfolds even the slightest twist when squeezing them makes them buckle in the direction the fold up.

1

u/RealBigHummus Dec 29 '22

Yeah, I imagine that.

1

u/Ciderlini Jan 04 '23

If you’re ready to sell that juice s2 let me know

1

u/Academic-Musician576 Jan 05 '23

If you hit me with a decent offer!

1

u/Fulcrum180 Jan 26 '23

What’s the small one in the third column from the left and third row from the top

2

u/Academic-Musician576 Jan 30 '23

That is the Leatherman Mini tool!
