Fun Discussion: Ultimate Christmas Day Present Opening Multitool

On Christmas I found myself wanting for more than just my pocket knife for all of the presents. All the tape, zip ties, cardboard, twist ties, toy assembly etc.. So, in preparation for next year…

What should I slip into my Christmas day pants pocket?

The package opener on the Wingman has been my favorite.

Yup, the wingman is just about perfect for Xmas and bdays where kids will be getting gifts. My wingman stays in my tackle box or yard bag most of the year until bdays and Xmas roles back around. Then it gets used hard for a few days straight and it’s never let me down

One of the Leatherman Free tools.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a P2, P4, Arc, or T4, the ability to swap between screwdrivers, blades, and scissors make them perfect for opening packaging, cutting ties, and installing batteries.

All those things you mention push me away from a multi tool on Christmas morning. Tape gumming stuff up, cardboard dulling the knife, can't reach the cutters for zip ties and they're hard on the scissors. My kit for Christmas is a Milwaukee Fastback 1505, side cutters and a powered rotary cutter.

I usually carry a t4, but busting out the wave is my Christmas tradition. I’ve got a 2 year old and it made short work of the things we had to assemble for him.

I had my Rebar on me to handle all of the various packaging, etc.
