SOG Powerpint cost. Recommendation Request
So I'm thinking of changing from the dime to the powerpint and when I searched for suppliers, they came up on Ali express for a third of the UK price, are they poor copies or are they originals, i know some people will say poor copies without knowing but I looked at some of the customer review pics and they kinda look genuine.
Has anyone tried one?

I purchased mine from AliExpress at a little over £20 delivered approx 8 months ago. Whatever route is being taken, they seem legit.
Quality is fine, but this tool is screaming out for an upgrade using better grade materials. Perhaps fewer tools (scissors are crap!) may help as well, although they can be modified to improve use.
Definitely don't pay full price.

Got mine off of Ali and it’s legit. There may be fake ones on there but at least some of them are genuine SOG. Some may have blemishes or damaged packaging but mine was just like I bought it at a retail store

You’ll get mixed feelings on here about it, however I absolutely love mine. I used it pretty hard daily for a few months before I bought an Arc, I work in a lot of control panels so the small Philips and flathead were perfect for me.

I got 2 from ali for less than 20 bucks each and I already have 1 I bought legit. Not much difference. We have a feeling the ones from ali are overruns from the SOG manufacturing itself. They dont have better QC for those. But if it is cheap and you got a good one then it is good.

They're from the same factory, I think maybe the seconds(ones with trivial QC issues) get sold on ae. I've got the powerpint, which is nice as it comes with a corkscrew and locking bit storage, without sacrificing any especially useful tools.

I have both, they are originals, but they can have some quality control issues, like not sharp blades or not precise pliers alignment

I wouldn’t want to wait for something to ship to me from Ali Express how long are you expecting it to take? The Nextool mini sailor you might be able to find a similar price domestically

There could not be a lower quality version. So you are pretty safe.

All sog tools are made of old butterknives. I made the mistake of buying one of these a couple of years ago. They really are terrible compared to anything Swiss or leatherman.

Thanks, my original post was about a replacement for my dime but I want it to be compact like the dime to just throw in the picket.

In the pictures you can see there really isn't much difference in size between the power pint and juice

A year or so ago I bought a few Powerlitres on AliExpress, and their quality was what I expected from SOG (not perfect but could be worse). Compared to the Powerpint I bought directly from SOG, these do not seem counterfeit to me. Packaging seemed identical to what I'm used to with SOG.

I received one from AliExpress yesterday a black one I believe its authentic. It’s very nice and operates smoothly, now I’m thinking about getting the Powerlitre in silver. Also shipping was fairly quick from China

I got mine from Ali Express, like most others here I think it's legit, although I don't have another to compare. Mine came with the main pivots extremely stiff, I had to break the thread lock and back them off a little, works fine now. I wouldn't consider paying full UK price for it, the materials don't warrant that price, and the shoddy design of many of the implements (some of which can be modded to work better fairly easily, but still..) for the ali price paid I do really like it, and there is nothing else really like it at that size.
