Victorinox Swiss Tool MX vs Swiss Tool Spirit MX Question/Advice
Hey there!
I've been wanting to get a Victorinox Swiss Tool for a long time now, and I'm stuck between these two models. So I was hoping that you guys could help.
I would like to get the Spirit MX, but I don't like how the blade is much smaller than the other Swiss Tool models, and I don't like the style of scissors the Spirit MX uses; I have loved the scissor design on my previous SAKs, and I feel like these scissors are a complete downgrade.
On the other hand, the Swiss Tool MX is bigger (the pliers are comically fat) and heavier, and maybe a little uglier too (at least in my opinion), but I prefer the design of its tools more.
I guess it comes down to what I value more: dimensions and weight, or tool design?
But what do you think? Thanks for your help!

I carry my Spirit daily. The Swisstool is in my "go bag".

How do you find the scissors and blade?

Scissors work fine, and DO work well on smallish zip ties. My work deals with more robust zips (1/4" and larger), so I bought Knipex shears for work, but for anything around the house, they are fine.
I do not find the smaller (than the Swisstool) blade to be a hindrance or downgrade. It is very sharp out of the box and, again, plenty large enough to deal with the fiddly bits a person might require a blade for on a daily basis.
For me, the main point in it's favour is the ergonomics. It just sits better in my hand than the Swisstool or even the Wave+ I had, which preceded it in my edc. So much so, that I gifted the Wave+ to a friend who was in need of a MT.

I have the Spirit with the combo blade and scissors, and recently added the pocket clip. The small scissors are powerful, the only problem being that you have to make more when cutting something big, due to their size. The curved shape is very ergonomic. With the pocket clip I forget it's in my pocket. So, I am a Spiritual person!

I like the full size Swisstools have the added features of being a ruler with measurements and can also be used as a square

In my opinion if this is going to be an EDC for you, and if it's going to live in your pocket you should go with the spirit MX. The smaller size and lighter weight is very meaningful in this scenario. However, if you're going to throw it in a truck or take it to work or leave it in your garage or any other use case besides EDC then I would go with the Swiss tool MX.
I think people really overblow the scissors, I find them to be perfectly fine. Opening the jaws farther would be great but, practically anything you're going to use these scissors for is going to fit regardless and it prevents you from using them on things you shouldn't. The knife length is also a non-issue, although I carry a dedicated folder for that. The knife on these multi tools really should be a backup knife not your primary.

Spirit scissors have an upside, that is they are more robust and do not struggle against zip ties etc
