Struggle to find the perfect multi-tool Recommendation Request
I've been wanting to get myself a multi-tool for a while now, especially now that Christmas is coming up. But for some reason I just have not been able to find one that checks all of my boxes, so I was hoping perhaps one of you guys could help me out.
Here is my checklist:
- Pliers
- Straight-edge blade
- Saw
- Scissors
- Philips/Flat head screwdriver
- Bottle/Can opener
- Awl
- Tools that are relatively well sized (I plan to use this as an EDC, so it can't be absolutely massive, but overall size isn't a big concern, but I still want my tools to be well sized)
- One-hand-open tools (able to access tools without opening pliers first)
- Not that expensive (not entirely sure what the market is like so I'll let you guys decide what is "not that expensive")
I really hope that this list doesn't sound too reasonable; I'm quite new to multi-tools so please let me know if I need to screw my head on lol.
Edit: Thank you all so much for your excellent responses. I've decided that I'll get the Leatherman Curl, and I've ordered a spare saw that I should be able to mod onto it!

Leatherman Free P4. Great Black Friday sale on Amazon for the P4 now. Roxon Flex would be a second runner up since it is modular.

Take a look at the 'Victorinox spirit mx clip'. Checks all the boxes, except for the price. Good reviews and comparisons on youtube as well.

Given your criteria, the only one that comes to mind is the Swisstool by Victorinox. I suppose you could get a Roxon Flex and buy the other parts you need.

Leatherman Free P4 ($105 on amazon now), Roxon Flex (build your own for about $90), Bibury 1049/9 ($50 on amazon). All will fit your criteria?

I’ve carried a gerber suspension every day for years. Has everything you need. I use it everyday for all kinds tasks. Hell i gutted a deer with it once. 🍻👍

Second this!
I've had three suspensions over the years. Friends like them and give them as gifts. Cheap enough if I break something it's not breaking the bank to replace.

If you have to have an awl, the Leatherman surge, if you can deal without the awl, the wave or charge, if you can deal without the scissors or one hand open the rebar

I strongly suggest the Victorinox Spirit in any Configuration (you can always add a clip). Its by far the best build quality with a true lifetime warranty. Also it is quite comfortble in the hand. Even thought its is a little pricier, that will pay out as you use for years and years to come. If price is an issue, go with a used one from ebay e.g.

Question you may not think to ask: Do you want spring loaded pliers or no? Not all models are spring loaded.

The Roxon Flex let's you build your own tool and it's impressively inexpensive and comfortable to use. For specific toolsets it's hard to beat.
