I disagree, as much as I hate redundancies in the kitchen and consider countertop space a valuable real estate if you boil water as much as we do the kettle is most efficient and quickest way to go. Also electricity is cheaper than gas in our household for some reason
Eh, I heat water every day for a pour over and/or tea. Stovetop kettle works just fine. By the time I pour/weigh the beans, grind them, and throw a fresh filter in the Chemex, my water is at temperature. Doesn't feel like a sacrifice. What does feel like a sacrifice is devoting yet more counter space to another appliance.
If I had 3 more square feet of counter space, I would definitely get an electric kettle, if only for temp accuracy alone, but that real estate is precious.
