Just some survival advice: if caught by an enemy army, don't say "I'm trying to help x".
115
u/Dertidancing 17h ago
And don't say they paying you. That's the difference between 'pisoner of war' and 'executed mercenary'
46
u/kieranjordan21 17h ago
Don't think that really matters to Russia what you say, if they wanted to execute you they would
25
u/Dertidancing 16h ago
Absolutely, but admitting it makes it even easier. They don't even have to lie. I mean... your chances are close to zero, imagine... a 15% or something like that. Saying they are paying you, reduces it to... 1%? Not a good idea really

It's very easy to type that on your phone from the comfort of your bed, not so easy standing in the freezing cold, covered in mud, piss and shit from being shelled senseless all day as some filthy uneducated grunt is beating that information out of you.

u/Bolib0mpa 15h ago
Don't come here with facts!!

u/ruggerb0ut 15h ago
Keyboard warriors are a brave bunch, until they have to tell their barber that they actually don't like their haircut or tell a waiter that they got their order wrong.

Oscar should have stayed at home. Certified fuck around find out moment

u/Magnetic-Magma 15h ago
If everyone stayed home when things got tough, no one would stand up for what's right. Change needs courage, even at great risk.
76
u/Rexman65 17h ago
He looks terrified.
56
u/CBTwitch 16h ago
Wouldn’t you be?
28
u/LolindirLink 16h ago
"he looks terrified and i would be terrified too" does read a bit oddly though, like AI.
9
8
u/duckonmuffin 16h ago
Yea. He is either going to Russia POW camp or is about to be killed.
2
u/EintragenNamen 15h ago
They're going to find out absolutely everything about him then kill him or they will keep him for a prisoner swap decades later.

And one time he says he is from China? And a student? He'd better get his story straight.
7
u/Sue_Spiria 15h ago
According to his LinkedIn profile he studied in Australia and went to China to teach for a couple of years.

“Why are you here” “I want to help x” yeah done for bro. That’s literally the ONE thing you do NOT say when being interrogated.
7
u/Commercial-Ranger339 16h ago
Ugh what should he say?
9
u/Shot_Supermarket_861 15h ago
One trick is to tell ’em stories that don’t go anywhere, like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ’em. “Give me five bees for a quarter,” you’d say. Now, where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones..

u/CastawayWasOk 16h ago
I’m here on vacation, and one thing lead to another, and time makes fools of us all.
9
u/Commercial-Ranger339 15h ago
Saying your vacationing on the frontlines of a warzone is a sure way for the enemy to think your bullshitting them

u/molokkofreak 18h ago
«teacher being caught” lol

u/Crispy1961 16h ago edited 15h ago
I hate these kind of headlines. No, Oscar Jenkins is not a teacher, he is a soldier. He said so himself. He is a teacher in Australia, a son while visiting his parents, a husband at home with his wife and a father when he kiss his kids goodnight, but while he is fighting in the war, he is a soldier.

Buddy I dont mean to be harsh but this guy doesnt work anywhere near intelligence.
26
u/XeroEffekt 16h ago
He is a man of virtue who put himself out there for what is right and knew what he was risking. I realize that is not as cool as being a sarcastic iPhone warrior, but we all are what we are.

Reminds me of that one scene in recent movie 'Civil War'...terrifying indeed.

u/TrickRoomTech 16h ago
Dude saw a war happening in a far away land and his first thought was "sign me up"

He is lying. Most probably he is a military technical assistant sent by NATO.
Anyway, both belligerents have and use mercenaries
16

u/HandsomHans 17h ago
NATO sends english teachers from Australia, even though they aren't even a NATO member? Pro ru get more unhinged every day. And that's a piss poor way to justify NK troops helping with the invasion btw.

u/nikolapc 17h ago
Well I would have the same reaction. Why the fuck are you in this conflict, durak? Go fight in the EMU wars.
Also seems to be a relation of world famous Karl Pilkington. Head like a fucking orange.

Hmm that looks like a world wide jihad but eh they're not Muslims so they're not terrorists , just people defending their ideologies
5
u/redcherrieshouldhang 17h ago
You framing this as an ideology war tells us all we need to know Ivan
-4
u/Fickle_Map6827 16h ago
I'm not framing anyone, actually i'm giving a logical explanation of what he's doing or else he's just a dumb person or suicidal to go for a war that has no connections to him and getting killed or taken as a prisoner.

Bro I'm 32 and I don't look SOOOO OLD. I still have my hair, I exercise and I have no vices.I wonder why even people much younger than me look older, while I look 5 years younger.

I mean, Oscar is kinda acting weird, I guess it's because of accent and the language barrier but he was still saying dumb words like an AI. I mean, I would be confused as well
1
u/the_scarlett_ning 15h ago
What if Oscar was actually a robot sent from the future? Just not as impressive as that other one.
