The person in the photo is the monk Mihailo Tolotos, the holder of a record that many could never match: he lived his entire life without ever having seen a woman in person. HISTORY

How do people who are born blind know they’re sexually attracted to men or women anyways? Are they all technically pansexual since they won’t be attracted to a person based on their appearance, but by their personality? Or do they get attracted by their partner’s body?

This made me think of that 30 Rock episode where the blind chick starts examining Kenneth's face with her fingertips and then recoils in disgust...

I’m deaf, but I can see quite well. In 1998 I began messaging with a man I’d met through a poetry forum in which we were both active. He lived in California and I in NY. We exchanged numerous messages and chatted for hours. In the age before selfies and HD and all that, we didn’t see much of each other’s appearance. When he came to visit me in 1999 I — unashamedly — tripped him and beat him to the floor. We could never get enough of each other from that point until he died 14 years later. He was, physically, not my “type” at all. I’d often rhetorically query him, “What’s the biggest sex organ in the human body?” The answer is, the brain. Desire has little to do with tits and dicks.

What do you mean by, tripped him and beat him to the floor, if you don't mind me asking

voice, smell, their hair and skin, clothes they wear, these off the top of my head. There are many things a blind person can like superficially

His mum died in childbirth and he was abandoned at the monastery. If he did see her, he certainly didn't remember it.

What is the purpose in life of this monks?
Do they study something, or discover something, create something, or do something for the greater good?
Do they leave some sort of knowledge only attained through this path of illumination and sacrifice for others to learn and answer the questions of the spirit?

He is wearing the cape of an accomplished monk. In Finnish they are called "skeemamunkki".
These are people who have lived as monks for decades, have proven to be exceptionally accomplished, and are then given this special cape and released from mundane work in the cloister, like making food and cleaning, so they can concentrate on prayer during all their waking hours.

Going by various church records there were more than enough small boys about to make this less of a feat, and that tradition continues on to this day. For every interesting fact about organised religion you learn, there are 50 they’d rather you didn’t.

Being a loser is not a record/achivement. This is an anti-record. There is no achievement here, it is rather an anti-achievement.

That’s not possible because a woman gave birth to him and she must at least have cradled him.
