I never knew that submarines could get cable, that's pretty cool. I always figured they'd just have a satellite dish or something.

A sub-marine cable then. I’ve been on one this wouldn’t fit and the bending radius would be similar to the turning circle of the sub

Submarine is both an adjective meaning under the surface of the sea, AND a noun meaning a submersible warship. Additionally, it can also mean sandwich. In any case, the hyphen isn’t necessary.
